Congratulations on pre-approval and such. Glad to see you folks are managing to get it built. How is the build coming along? Do you have anything holding you all up? Be sure to let us know if you need any help. We have alot of Machinists, Welders, Fabricators and Engineers here and available with a PM.
I can't wait to see it. Thank you all for making a wonderful properly mutated work of art for our community this year!

we are having a fundraiser here in Portland this weekend, and have submitted for a local art grant through our regional, so looking forward to a bit more funding. The worm still needs a mouth and some skin!

Call for sandworm builders
Toolmaker, hello.
Stormfeather told me about this conversation going on on Eplaya. I'm the guy who's leading the sandworm building. And yes, we probably could use a hand if we can find something that can be done on the other side of the country.
Originally the worm was envisioned to be longer. We'd need a trailer or several to get the ultimate wormy look, tapering body disappearing gently into the playa. We scaled it down to get it done. I still dream that some group elsewhere would bring a tail that could plug onto the trailer hitch. We also dropped the articulated tail idea.
So we have built the deck on top. Really beefy steel structure that can take a whole bunch of riders. We need to get the mouth structure designed and built. We have one person that may build thumper(s). Steampunkish thing with a radio hidden inside and maybe a strobe. We need a maker hook to use to stop the worm when we call it. What do you think, anyone up for helping with something in that list?

Sadly, we may not get a daytime permit this year, but the possibility still exists for a night time one.

Can you explain why you may not be getting a daytime permit? We're bringing up an MV and now I'm suddenly worried!? :)

Had to do with lack of funds and time and our overstressed owner deciding that he might not skin the worm (hide the bus).
Crazy I know.
Actually it has a skin as of a couple of days ago.
The vehicle must be completely hidden or mutated to pass daytime permit.
DMV are less picky at night due to flashy lighting.
My advice, do your best, then bring the hotties at the DMV a bribe and smile!
