Well... Hola kelliy

I’ll be taking a more northerly route myself, but will wind up at the same destination as you... at least that’s the plan. It would appear there’s lots of west coast folks, north east folks, and plenty of outside the US people too that go to BM. Nice to see that there's a few more from “down yonder way” other than me. I’ll be listening for the tell-tale drawl as I walk around BRC. :)

You'll probably go right by my house in LA-lower alabama. I was a newbie last year and already have my ticket for this year. I picked up a couple kids off eplaya last year and we met up with StevieT in Nashville and caravanned out. You're going to love BRC.

I am looking for someone to ride/drive/share gas again this year, if you know other PCeans going.

just-in-time, if you drive, what type of vehicle do you have at your disposal? Me and my boyfriend are slightly throwing around ideas of hooking up with someone else to save on gas... we're coming from New Orleans, but could meet you at your house. Sadly, my vehicle is old and not-so-reliable. Just a fleeting thought and question I thought I'd ask...

Hey Y'all!

I believe I'll be driving out, but I'm not sure just yet. I'm going to have to make up my mind pretty soon though. I figure, depending upon my mileage and the cost of gas, that the round trip, in gas alone, is going to cost somewhere in the $600-$800 neighborhood. I've got a big-ass Dodge 4WD extra-cab pickup with an 8-ft long bed (no camper top though). It's reliable, got ice cold A/C (essential!), perfect for the playa and for haulin' a ton o' shit out there, except the mileage sucks (around 12 mpg city/15 mpg highway). If gas prices keep going up, I'll be hosed, unless one/some of you guys want to meet up and share gas/driving.

I'm in Chattanooga, TN. If I do drive, I'll be taking I-40 from Nashville all the way to Kingman, AZ, and will then head north through Nevada (Vegas, Tonopah & Reno). I'll have to stop in Santa Fe, NM and pick up my friend Megan, who will be coming to BM with me.

PM me if you want to try to work something out.

P.S.,
Kelliy, my mom lives in PCB too, in a little neighborhood on (what else) Sun Lane. She's about a half mile from the beach. I think I'm going to come down for 4th of July weekend.

Later, Y'all!
...but it seemed like such a good idea at the time...

Sadly, as I have just got out on my own this year, I cant afford BM this year. But I'll be glad to share the gas money next year Ring! I haven't been to BM yet, but I cant wait to go next year. I am making a finance plan to get enough money saved up by then.

Im also from Chattanooga, and it'll be awesome to get outta old Bumfuck and meet everyone at BM!

I'd be all about meeting up for some drinks or creative mischief when I come down in July.

I'll tell my mom that I meet this really cool woman, who lives less than a mile away from her house, over the internet on this discussion board about this event called Burning Man . "What's Burning Man, you ask mom? Well, let me try to explain it. Hmmm where do I begin?"

I've already tried to explain it to her. As far as she's concerned, it's just some big-ass party in the desert that I'm going to. Plus, she already thinks that I'm "a little off in the head" anyway.

BTW, "FING" O'Fire? How 'bout, "Finger O' Fire"? That works for me!
(Sorry, I'm an incorrigible smartass).

Hopefully, I'll see you in PCB in July.

I do believe that there is gonna be a couple more of us good ol' southerns runnin across the country to get to the desert. The one thing that I am sure on is that everybody will know where this southern gal will be sleeping at... it'll be where the Dixie flag will be flying high and flappin in the wind!

I have an '03 honda CRV, carried 2+me and a lot of gear last year, spending <$400 on gas. It took us about 48 hours from Nashville where we hooked up with a van pulling an art car that got real slow on occassion. Coming straight back to get a guy back to Tulane for his first classes, I made it back to AL in 41 hours. Sorry, I will only take one passenger this year.

I met a Cherokee(?) medicine woman from the NO area with a bunch of old hippies (her description) last year that I sure wish I could contact. Does NO have regional get-togethers?

Damn, me and my partner are still looking for a ride share. I haven't done too much looking for local events, but I haven't heard or seen anything. In a coffee shop in the Quarter there's a few pictures that lead to questions about Burning Man and it turns out there's a few people out here that go every year, but I don't know them.... and supposedly there's a group that parades around with jazz instruments on the night of the burn from NO.

I have a friend that is going to be looking for a rider going to BM from New Orleans. She need someone to help pay for gas ETC.... She is driving a pickup truck. I think she will be staying in Ca. after the burn. So you will need to find you way back.
Also we are looking for more campers in our camp. There will be 3 people from N. O. already. ( Camp Burning Bush) and we would like to have more. We are a laid back group. Not into turning BM into a drinking fest. Its all about the art. But we do like to party and have fun.
So if anyone need a ride or a camp let me know. [email protected]

Suthurn Rideshare

Post by SLT » Mon Jul 26, 2004 10:39 pm

Howdy Campers!

This is Steve in Nashville, and I'm running a regional rideshare again this year [4th time in a row]. We have a full size van plus an enclosed trailer so there's plenty of room for 5 campers and their gear. As of today we have 3 seats available. Plan on departing Friday Aug 27, leaving the playa Monday after the burn and back in Nashville Sept 8th or 9th.

As mentioned before gas cost for the round trip does add up, but when split 5 ways it's not nearly as bad. Also makes the long drive much more enjoyable. If you're looking for a ride just drop me a line.

Cheers

Depends largely on a reply from the DMV. I'm among the many people still waiting for an approve/decline letter for an art car submission. If I don't get an invite for the art car I may not be taking the trailer, in which case we'd have a full van with the usual 5 riders and their gear. The DMV is supposed to have all the art car submissions taken care of by Aug 1st, but there are no guarantees that will happen as scheduled [but cross your fingers]. If the art car goes then space should not be an issue at all.

I'll post again here soon as I hear something...

Cheers
Steve

npytel: Talk about late in the game...finally got word on the art car and I was pre-approved. That means the trailer is going and there should be room for your boxes if they haven't already found another mode of transit. We leave Nashville Thursday the 26th.
