Where to buy water in Las Vegas

We're taking an RV from Austin and need to buy about 70 gallons of drinking water in containers. Instead of buying it in Austin and hauling it that far, we'd like to pick it up in Las Vegas. Reno is two hours out of our way and we'd be getting into Reno after 10 pm, while we'd be in Vegas around 3-5 pm.

I'd prefer to get 15 gallon containers, and preferably at a place that will be open as late as possible on Sunday. We hope to come in around 3-5 pm but like to keep our options open in case of delay.

Any Walmart will be open 24 hours... Buy the 2.5 gal suitcase.. 2 per box...

You REALLY might want to consider holding off until Reno. Las Vegas represents quite a haul for for a bunch of unnecessary weight.

I believe you will still be coming through Fernley, assuming the logical path you are taking is up 95. Fernley has a Walmart and a Scolari's (normal kind of grocery store). Ferntucky is 400 miles closer to BM than Las Vegas. Just beware of the roundabout of doom.

Speaking of water and Reno...do they normally run out? I'm still wondering whether I should get the water down here in SoCal and haul it up there, or get it up in Reno and hope they don't run out. We're planning on needing around 35 gal. (in the 2.5 gal x2 boxes = 7 boxes) and if they run out we'd be pretty screwed.

Last year we just got our water down here so I didn't have a chance to check out the local Reno stores and see how stocked they keep the water. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

We aren't that small! LOL! Most businesses here know what to expect for this week. I actually bought mine at Whole Foods yesterday and happened to be talking to the guy that was stocking the great pile of 2.5ers in front of the store and he said they have plenty. Save-Mart (formerly Albertson's) on Keystone literally caters to burners. I'm sure they too will have plenty 2.5 gal jugs available as will most other large "on the freeway path" stores (ie Wally, Winco, Smiths, etc).

Thanks for the info LostinReno! I figured they would be pretty stocked up this time of year, but you never know, with tens of thousands of extra people passing through I wanted to make sure. Good to know we won't have to haul 35 gal. all the way up there!

Yeah we're thinking about the Fernley Walmart now. Do you think they might run out, or will they be well prepared?

Is 2.5 gallon the biggest container they sell? That's the biggest I found on their website. I'd prefer to get 15 or 5 gallon, less packaging, cheaper.

I'd think they'll be fine on stocking this Sunday night. We're talking Wal-Mart, who is famous (in business schools at least) for their inventory system that manages to make sure they're not out of stock. Plus all the businesses in area are used to the sudden influx of folks going to BMan - so will be plenty stocked.

The only way to do it is how you are thinking of doing it...Walmart or Costco in Vegas Baby!
