Heading to the playa sick

Post by Jiva » Wed Aug 26, 2009 9:34 am

Thanks to multiple stressors and luck of the draw, I now have the beginnings of a moderate cold. I'm heading out early Friday morning, overnighting in Reno and arriving on the playa Saturday. I have my BRC Ranger mentoring shift Sunday.

Someone please tell me this won't be as bad an idea as I fear it will be. :(

start taking the emergen-C's now !! and drink lots & lots of water. Reno should dry you out though.
don't forget to floss

Copious amounts of fresh garlic, vitamin C and no drinking, sugar or meat usually help me stave off illness. And sleep.

Combination of the dry air and your adrenalin will work wonders.

I once had bronchitis and a nasty cold when I went to Vegas. I was so sick that I planned to spend the weekend in bed. But the dry air cleared me out incredibly fast and I bounced back enough to go out. I figured that I would get sick again after the weekend, but I didn't. It was bizarre.

I still think about that weekend and there seems no rational reason for my super fast recovery. I'm sure it will be the same for you at BM.

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts and advice. My symptoms seem to be abating, so hopefully by the time I get to the city on Saturday I'll be right as rain.
