Looking for a campsite, first timer (virgin)

Post by sunil137 » Tue Sep 01, 2009 8:04 pm

Hi everyone,

This will be my first attendance and it might be for lot of years to come..
since I am going back to India next year.

After hearing about this unique experience all the time since I have been
leaving in bay area for 4 years, I have decided to finally go and see and experience the event.

I am in my late twenties and a young bay area professional. I will
be arriving on sept 5th - 6th weekend and looking for a campsite
to join.

Please let me know if anyone knows of any space available anywhere.

If I join a campsite, then do I still need to bring anything else other than
a tent?

thanks,
Sunil

Okay - wow. Have you read the survival guide?

You don't NEED to be a part of a theme camp, you can set up camp anywhere that isn't reserved for theme camps or been otherwise claimed. By the weekend, this probably means you'll be way out in the outer rings.

And yes, YES you need to bring everything you need to survive while you're there. That means water, food, comfortable shoes... everything.

Looking for a campsite to join

Actually, I dont want to put up my tent since I am a first timer
and would like join a theme campsite as a group member and enjoy
the communal living for the weekend.

Anyone knows how to find a campsite that still have space for more people?

Can I directly come to the playa and use some kind of information board to
find a theme campgroup?

Ofcourse, I will carry my supplies such food, water, clothes and other necessary stuff.

thanks,
Sunil

What do you plan to sleep in at night? You'll need some kind of shelter. I've always used a tent and not had any trouble - just make sure you stake it down really well.

The chances of your being able to join a themecamp at this point are almost non-existant as everyone is already on the playa. All you need is to find a spot to put your stuff and you'll make friends when you get there - instant communal living!
