Citations for dirty windshield?

Post by Viva » Wed Sep 09, 2009 1:01 pm

Got caught in that 9 mile line going through Gerlach by an officer who gave me a ticket in the amount of $110 for a dirty windshield - then got back on the road and waved to the elderly couple sitting in their front yard who responded with a shout out, "Get the fuck outta my town!" Hmmm
Love is the answer...

Save the last bottle of water for your windshield. Sorry, should have told you before.

Face it, if you can't see, you're not safe.

If I couldn't see - I wouldn't have driven, but I guess your right - that officer only had my best interest at heart.

With all due respect that officer was being a dick. Out of thousands of vehicles I wonder how many got a similar B.S. ticket? Hearing this I'm glad I went North on 447 instead of South this year and bypassed the Gerlach and Empire clusterfuck. Just hearing about this sort of crap pisses me off.

Yeah, I can't believe that more people don't wash their windshields. Seems like the first thing you would do when you get in your car. I use the extra water from the end of the week to dump all over my windows. I worked the lanes this year on exodus and I can't count the number of cars that whizzed passed me with whited out windshields. Go figure.

Nobody who kills someone in a traffic accident thinks that they have a problem until they hear that sick THUMP.

It's unbelievable the amount of people who will bitch about getting a ticket for not using their brain. A whited out windshield is about as smart as driving blind. I thank the cop. He could have saved a life or at least reminded someone to think a little.

Not sure if this is true for 4 wheelers, but a chip larger than a nickle on big trucks is a violation. Kinda fucked the response you got from the elderly couple. Shoud have replied, "I'm getting the fuck out! Enjoy my money!"

I bring windex and paper towels.
If I get pissed off and can't handle cleaning all my windows and mirrors to perfection then I stay another night because I obviously need the rest.
That is my method to insure my safe driving to home base.
Sorry you got picked out of the pack.
Come see me next year as you leave and I will gift you some of my windex.

7 years I've attended, and 7 years I've been able to drive out of that event with nothing more than one quick flip of the wipers and that's it. I honestly think that this cop was behind on his quota and saw an opportunity to write a bullshit ticket. I may be wrong, but I could very well be right. In any case I hope she hires an attorney and gets this ticket tossed into File 13 where it belongs.

One of the Hushers in Hushville walks around the village with a small bucket and a squeegee and washes the windshields on Monday morning. We were thankful for the thoughtful gift.

I'm almost elderly, fuck you very much.

One of my campmates gifted everyone in our camp with windshield washer fluid top-offs. I used my washer as soon as I got on asphalt. Did the side and back windows at the Love's near Fernley.

If anyone does try this do not wait till you are in line waiting. You will be ran over. RV's, Trucks and Vans have a hard time seeing people wandering lanes and I hate freaking working the lanes with dimwits dangerously flitting around. It's much more dangerous than you think. I have a hard enough time in a bright yellow vest not getting hit. Plus, washing windows in exodus would only hold up the line even more.

Do it walking around in camps while people are preparing to leave.

Was thinking more of the really slow lanes before they start merging, and gifting the ones who really need it, not everyone. Not a major undertaking.

Nice job on Exodus by the way.

I have seen a coulpe of firefighters with backpack bladder bags squirting windshields in previous years.
