Were you wearing your hair in two pony tails? Did one of the guys you smacked blow in your belly button? If so that may have been me. I have a picture of that.Generic Anonymity wrote:I had an excellent time out there - can't wait to get back. It was nothing short of amazing - everything I could have wanted and more.
Hah - in my camp a bunch of people were smacked with a riding crop - both to get dinner and to get a post-wedding shot. I'm the one who provided the crop.geospyder wrote:Spanking... I still have the perfect outline on my left "cheek" of a riding crop. I don't think I should have dropped my pants for that spanking.Barbie wrote:...missing my spankings this morning...

You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

Lol, nope. That's not me. Sounds pretty funny though. I was in Root Society (though I didn't really get into the rave scene)geospyder wrote:Were you wearing your hair in two pony tails? [quote="Deb Prothero"]Best burn ever!
Only I missed Artemis. Seems I was somewhere else when she was at my camp.

No worries, I can feel the virtual hug from here. ((((Deb)))))
I stopped by every day that I was there, and sometimes sent da mule to stop by, but always just missed you. One time you had literally walked away seconds before so I rode around but didn't find you. I think your campmates were beginning to worry that you were being stalked.

My Cosmic Burn '09...

My burn was probably one of the best ever. I hosted the LA Regional "Not Burning Man" event at my ranch this year.

It was awesome, we had over 200 people, which ment you met and hung out, and knew all the people at the event, and you could literary keep an eye on your camp, no matter where you were at the event.
A main stage area with fire spinners and fire cannons, a neon and gigantic mega watt lazar light show, center camp where most things were free, including the coffee, with a small recycle camp that was maintained by volunteers from each camp on 30 minute shifts. The procession to the burn platform got lost walking to the nearby burn site(it was easier than you think), where we had a unique, small/huge burn of a 15' tall Art sculpture "Thingy" made of wood. All I remember is, it kinda had a birdcage head and tits in a strange Picasso sorta way, and it made a big fire with explosions. Lots of naked people.
The weather was amazing, an almost balmy 95 that keep everyone constantly at the small cold dip pool. The Full moon lit the desert with a soft glow until monday when it rose late, allowing the stars to blaze an almost magical clear sky. The day after the event you could not even tell they had been there, 200+ people disappeared without leaving so much as a cigarette butt behind of their four-day stint in the desert, hell there was nothing in any of the porto-potties but shit, toilet paper, and piss (we checked).
There was a huge contingent of the local flora and fauna attend the event, over 60 locals from my count, most stayed, and camped for the whole three days with us. Not only did they get to meet and interact with the Burner Community, they got a first hand understanding of what the "Leave No Trace" ethos is all about, which is sad because when it's all said and done these are the people who are left there to be the true custodians of our deserts, it would behoove us to expose them to our noble cause to save and keep our natural environments pristine. We have to remember that these people are still stuck in the 1980 mindset of consumerism and consumptionism, they will throw a bag of garbage out the window faster than you can change channels on the radio, they actually think the desert will break it down for them, or they are helping by adding to the desert food chain in some way with their trash. Well several participated in the the clean up afterward (they volunteered), and exclaimed "Wow, your suposed to clean up before you leave? We always thought that was just a "Hippy Motto" or something and didn't pertain to us." Well now they get it, and I think with our contribution to the local businesses that were really hurting because of the slow down in tourism due to the recession, really helped by putting seed money in there pockets for their upcoming "Wild West Days" event that is like their Christmas season, finance wise.
We were told we looked like a mini Las Vegas, with all the camp's lights and signage, and it must have been a sight, with the main stage's light show, and 30' glowing ring of light that surrounding the dance floor, and a multi-source disco light that lit the 30' tall Pyramid that you could see 30 miles a way.
They say it was the most unique event that had ever been held there, they loved and enjoyed us, because we were all polite and respectful, and no where near what they imagined when they were told a "burning man contingent" was going to have a party in their neighborhood. They say we will be gratefully welcomed back next year, if the event is held again.
They called it a small city, but i like to think of it as a small village.....
