Giddy

One of those things where I don't know whether to post here or in the General Discussion arena. I'm not a newbee on the board (on my second log-in) and I'm a two time burner as well. But this seems more geared toward infomation.

I got "officially engaged" 2 nights ago, and we're planning on a "playa wedding" and a "real world wedding." Let's face it, in a lot of ways the playa wedding is more fun to plan. We're working on the guest list (I'm amazed at how positive everyone's been!) So it comes down to practicalities.
Are his and her sarongs just too darn silly?
Can we commendere an art piece that speaks to us?
Is there anything (besides playa dust) that can be tossed in the air that wont turn instantly into MOOP. (No, of course not.)
Does anyone have any good playa wedding stories?

Only the groom is congradulated (for his wonderful catch), brides get "Best wishes' something of that sort.

No, but I would avoid white brocade
Don't see why not but you will end up with a bunch of strangers in attendance
Water, couple of oz for everyone to toss as high as possible to sparkle in the sun

In '02 I was headed somewhere and passed by a circle where someone said 'Join us'. I could tell from past experience that it was a pagan something by the set up (part of the reason I am an atheist is that I know a lot about religion). Anyway I joined the circle and while it took me a bit I figured out that there was a wedding going on. While it went on quite a long time and some people slid away I really enjoyed it. It was one of my best experiences at Burning Man.

Best Wishes Cryptofishist

There are threads on weddings I think. And there is a section on the website about weddings. Nothing is too silly for Burning Man in my opinion. Do what you want, and have fun with it. Wear sarongs, go naked, dress like you were going ballroom dancing in the 1880s.. whatever. It's your party, do as you please!

Congratulations on your engagement! Good luck with the planning!

Congratulations! I wish you all the best.

I agree with Icepack--do whatever you want, whatever is meaningful and good for you.

Congrats, best wishes, and all other due accolades, Cryptofishist...

May your lives together be filled with both joy and tears, laughter and lament, sunny days and rainy... for without one we wouldn’t recognize the other. I pray that always the both of you will walk in peace and above all, remember to walk together. And don’t ever quite holding hands, else you may forget how special touch is.

That should read "quit" rather than "quite".

Even after proofing it twice...
