Hey <3

I've decided that no matter what, I will attend burning man 2010, for the first time! Yay. I've been lurking around the forums and various other BM sites to try and help prepare myself. I'm mostly really curious how you all haul in that water, haha.

Anyhow, I'm from Oregon, so hi to any other Oregon/PDX burners!

Thank you all for inspiring me to want to step out of my boring little box.

My first burn was a short trip - Tuesday afternoon through Saturday AM. Two of us brought a total of 20 gallons in 5 gallon containers; 1 jerry can (thusly: http://www.olive-drab.com/od_mvg_jerry_can_plastic.php ) and 3 of this sort: http://media.rei.com/media/708992_350Lrg.jpg . The jerry can was... under $12, I think, and the soft carriers were maybe $6-8 each. 5 gallon cans are easily manageable by one person for hauling in an out of a vehicle, etc.

We went through about 13 gallons (plus a couple of cases of beer) purely for drinking. For the full week, I think we'd have been comfortable with one extra 5gal can, leaving us a little reserve and possible room for a short shower mid-week.

If we'd run short, we planned to supplement with ice from Arctica (yay Arctica!)

I brought in 12 one gallon milk containers of frozen water. Served as ice for most of the week plus cold water. That was more than enough.
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.
