Do it, you won't regret it. I did it this year from AL solo and, it was great. Just show up, talk to some folks, make a camp and, have a blast.
Let me clarify, show up prepared. Read all the first timers info and, any other survival guides you can find. That is what I did (in only six weeks) and I had more than enough to get by but, I had some awesome neighbors that really helped.

Stopping at the greeters post
Its been five days since I have left the Playa and just wanted to say hi! I have logged on and have been accounted for in cyberspace. Lo and behold I am looking for my camera. It is a Sony Cybershot wrapped in a lime green leather case with pictures of me, Ronny, and the fish. Our gorgeousos fish. And then if you keep scrolling back you will see many pictures of trees. And then some. Its all of the same three people , us camping on different parts of Earth. If you scroll further back and see me..the lady in a country far away, wearing a Green dresss that matches the camera. It would be amazing, astounding EVEN MORE as life is pretty neatto after all.....that you would read this post and call me up and say " I have found it! Your camera!" and I would thank you to no end and try to bring it back to you. So I write...Sony Cybershot Lost but hopefully found. I will post my number (415) 497-2982. If you need to be reimbursed for the phone call...will do. I will reward between wHAT YOU WANT AND MY CAPABILITIES. pLEASE ASK YOURSELF WHAT YOU MIGHT NEED BEFORE YOU TELL ME. I really like this camera. It is my first one My momma ever bought for me..the story gets funnier if I think about it...but also too...it is the third one...count 'em three..that I have lost since expolring the world with Ronald. P for Plowman.

I'm horribly out of shape, have asthma and arthritic feet, cannot ride a bike for more than a block without back pain. Yet I go. Granted, not by myself, but I go. If you have other issues, health, school, work, finances, that's fine, but waiting to go to Burning Man until you have lost weight is like hanging onto that size 6 dress from high school. Someday is now.
Weight and out of shape is not my only reason for waiting. My family can not afford for me to go this year. Not fair to my hubby and kid to try it this time. I'm coming from Georgia which adds cost to the trip. I have to get all the needed supplies, which I really don't have yet.
In the meantime, I will be here enjoying everyone's company and adding to my list of supplies I must get! Nothing is stopping me in 2011!

Go to Alchemy this year. Think of it as Burning Man with training wheels.
If you got 35 bucks for a ticket and gas money, you can make it happen.
I have been twice, and would recommend it.

Not a chance. If Larry can squeeze another $300 or so out of every living organism within the reach of TTITD (That Thing In The Desert), he will. They will simply add another "street" on the outer ring. Or cram all of us in what they already have laid out. Sort of like a concentration camp only with less room, fewer showers, and no food or water.
