This was brought up on another thread, and I felt it needed to be addressed. Or just to start some shit. German soldiers in world war 2 were NOT necessarily nazis! Got a problem with it?! Go read your "not printed in US" history books!

the German people are a fine people......and, to be lumped in with a certain small group and tarnished the same, is, to me, sad.

IMHO, it is as often a matter of "jumping on the bandwagon" of PC crap, that, leads to dissing Germans, or, Europeans in general........
those that do this, tend to ignore that all societies, races, religions, etc. have done horrific things in the past.......and, will again.......and that it's usually perpetrated by a small group.

but, it's ok in this atmosphere to attack Europeans in general, and, Germans specifically.........

Nazis were a political party. For the most part, if you were a high-ranking officer, then you had to be a member of the Nazi party to get ahead.
But during WWII, all members of the German Armed forces were the enemy, Nazi or not. So your point is?

My point is most of them weren't nazis. I mention luftwaffe on another thread and the word nazi pops up. Had family on both sides and I'm tired of the simple minded assumptions. That's all :)

Apparently to some it does. I lived briefly in Hamburg, when I was a kid. And, almost got my ass kicked, by some older kids who I called nazis, after they teased me for wearing a superman shirt. They're a little sensetive about that, and I've grown to learn who the german people are. Its an awesome country, awesome people and I wish their history is behind us...but also that we learn what was actually going on in germany back then. Its a shame, that it took Tom Cruise, to tell the story of valkyrie to the american public. (Breath) that's all....

And I'm NOT denying that the holocaust ever happened!

I think the OP was just saying all Germans are not Nazi's...........and, lamenting the fact that Germans are all lumped into that catagory.....

Yeah thats pretty much the idea. You posted a pic of Col. Klink, I made a random comment about luftwaffe and german soldiers... and AZ came in...mentioned the N word... and it struck a nerve with me. Thus, my rant. But you are correct! The German people payed dearly, for decades..by the acts of a sick ruling minority.

I loved Bill's show about not being politically correct. But it was cancelled.

I hated the ultra-conservatism of the fifties and crewcuts. Loved the Beatles " long" hair. Which really wasn't very long. Relativism, I guess.

Scattered thoughts, I quess all based on intolerance and stupidity. Even my own. Have you ever been intolerant and stupid? I have. But I'm working on it. But we got the "good" Germans, Von Braun and Einstein. But they brought us intercontinental missles and the A bomb...hummm.

No, it took a few thousand algemeine SS, lies upon lies and general ignorance (Bush got elected twice?), to kill so many people. The Nazis were a minority when they came to power. Disagree with them and you were dead. Fear is a powerful tool. Bush used it..and like dupes we sent our kids to be killed.
