Ha I double dare them :P

Truly one of humanity's great weaknesses is being uncomfortable about the naked human (even when the setting doesn't require cover), but a whole lot of that is aesthetics...to look good naked takes constant work, you all know very well.

To save the timid, I am our camp's designated playa naked dude (with assorted furry leggings, ears, etc.). Every camp should have at least one, or better several.

For those who yell "a penis is not a costume!" (you know who you are DPW) I have 2 stock answers:

if its a guy, its "that's why I've got the cock ring!"
if its a gal, its "that's why you don't have one!"

<<original>>

I don't know but would suppose it's the same reason they wear cock rings anywhere and the same reason people have genital piercings...probably part decoration and part sexual stimulation and part advertising for a certain type of partner.
brcprincess wrote:My question is, why is it always the OLD men that go naked? I saw hundreds of them wandering naked (and alone) this year.
But I rarely saw any hot young guys naked. Maybe I was camping near the Seniors section??
I love that you wondered if you were near the senior section because often people will see a lot of something at BRC and not realize they were camped right near a group of whatever that thing is, they just think it's everywhere at BM.

But in answer to your question, i know for myself it has taken a lifetime for me to get comfortable enough in my own skin to be able to go naked in public. I am female and don't have the body type that in general in our culture is considered "hot". It has been a spiritual journey for me to get to the point where I can be proud of my body and not care as to whether someone finds it attractive. It is what is and it's mine and I can appreciate it for the millions of things it does for me and I can honor it by letting it be seen.

One of the ways burning man has been a spiritually deepening experience for me has been going from fear of nudity (years 1 and 2) to riding in Critical Tits (years 3, 4 and 5) to becoming a Naked Greeter (years 6 and 7). The willingness to do these things marks an evolution in my year-round personal relationship to my body.

Greeting Naked has been a profoundly powerful political statement for me. I feel that welcoming people to bm with the comfort of nudity in my imperfectly perfect body, sets a tone for acceptance and seeing beyond the surface of people and the veneers of the default world. I think it effects the people I greet, especially the people who need this effect, in ways that are deeply altering that I couldn't do if I had a "hot" body for them to project their sexual fantasies on. When you are nude in a non-sexual way, it opens up for interactions that can get beyond the sexual stuff that plagues people and effects many, perhaps even most, interactions.

Awesome post, Mars, BMan did the exact same for me. It was a journey the last 5 years, and it was my favorite thing about this year, just being confident! BUT....to the subject at hand, I dont go naked. I just show skin.

I dunno whats up with the Old Naked Man phenom, but I think the majority of the ladies like a little mystery? As I think guys do with girls....a costume is sexier than nude I believe in this environment. Maybe I would think differently at some Hot springs, Yuba River, or a foresty knoll. Still, the decor of the body is more of a turn on than the junk being exposed. And really, nudity isnt very sanitary. The old naked men just dont give a shit :)

But isn't that the point? Nudity is NOT about sexiness.

Actually, no. It's funny that people think someone else's nudity is about what the observer is seeing. Something to consider, especially if you haven't done it, nudity might also be about how it feels to the body and how it feels to the wearer.

My nudity has nothing to do with YOU. I go nude, when I can, because I like how it feels, not because of what you might see or think or feel when I do it.
Have you ever swam in a river, a lake, or a pool without a bathing suit on? It feels fantastic. Have you ever had the warmth of the sun on your entire body? It's a comforting treat! Have you ever woken up in the morning and not had to decide what clothes to put on? Have you ever spent a whole day with your skin to the breeze and sun and shade and dust?

I'm not a dude, so maybe not the right person to answer the original questions, but I go nude at Burning Man because I can.

That was just my sense of humour getting the better of me :)
I am very comfortable and happy with my body and love to walk arond naked in my house.... weather permitting(Ireland). My kids are used to it and therefoe have no hang ups about it either. And yes their is nothing nicer than the sun on your naked body, nude beaches are my favourite beaches. MY friend has some beautiful pics of a naked man dansing with parasols on the playa. some of his best pics :) Express yourself however you want........................... that is what i addored about the buring man. x

Well, I would think that any dust that does works its way in, will just get flushed out the next time you: Image

And as far as walking around at full-mast, its highly unlikely that you will, but in the unlikely event that you do, just please, please, don't do this: Image

Were you walking around at "full-mast" when you had your clothes on??? (Just wondering, because if the answer is no, then I would wonder why you would be worried about walking arount at full-mast when YOU took off YOUR OWN clothes. )

Also, on a totally unrelated subject--sorry I missed you on the playa this year. Why didn't you go to the meet-n-greet?

Poor scheduling is no excuse; it's not as if the time and date of the meet-n-greet was announced at the last minute.

Because of the logistics of your avatars, the thought of you two shaking hands is kinda gross.
