Giant panoramas of 2009, many at night

Post by bradtem » Thu Sep 24, 2009 3:42 pm

I have put up my gallery of giant panoramas for 2009. I hope you all got a chance to see the "evolution of BRC" display which had 11 years of the panos (shrunk down to just 10' long) on the playa at around 8:30 and 200' from the Esplanade.

In addition, I have rebuilt a lot of the older panos at a higher resolution to reflect today's web and screens, so you may want to look at some of the older years. All from 2005 on have been rebuilt, plus the best ones. This year I made pages containing some of the best:

Contains the big full-city image from each of the last 12 years, all one one page.

Is a sampling of some of my favourites from the 12 years.

This year, I did a lot of night panoramas, thanks to my new 5dII camera which has much better low light ability. Even so, night panos are much harder than day ones, but I know you will enjoy the shot of the burn from the Esplanade and the playa from the temple.

My regular sized photos are not yet picked and arranged. I'll announce when those are ready or track the burning man or photography topics on my blog.

The English language sometimes runs out of words of positive expression.....viewing those panoramas is one of those times for me.

...Amazing, no no, that's not good enough. I too am speechless, the Man Interior looks fantastic. No language can capture beauty as closely as your images do.

your work is always so lovely to see and really takes you to that moment in time unlike any other pics from the playa

I should also add that as an experiment this year I shot a very high resolution shot -- 750 megapixels -- of the playa. You will find it about 2/3 down the page, and you may not notice a link to a copy of it on the gigapan site. That link is here: http://gigapan.org/gigapans/33260/

On that site you can zoom in to full detail and wander around the playa. The bad news is that my lens had a defect in it which I thought had been repaired, and so there are slightly fuzzy patches, but it's still fun. There are also some sections that are hazy because of dust going through. What a surprise on the playa. Plus if you launch the fullscreen viewer it's pretty amazing: http://gigapan.org/gigapans/fullscreen/33260/

From there follow the link to my gigapan page http://gigapan.org/profiles/2015/ where you can see several other Burning Man shots from other years I have uploaded as gigapans. I plan to do this sort of flash viewer on my own site in the future for all the pictures.

Phenomenal shots. I might just turn into one of those people that made you a small time pro. :)

These photos are absolutely insane. I can't believe the resolution on them. I must bookmark this site.
