Identical Twin Sisters (Yes, Twins!) Do 2010 or BUST!

Post by BurningRondo » Fri Sep 25, 2009 9:35 am

One week ago (Sept 18 2009), I heard about Burning Man through a writer friend of mine. If it's one thing I missed about the art community while in college (I graduated a couple of years ago), it was that come-as-you-are mish-mash of interests and backgrounds. Okay, so I lied -- I also miss the creative spontaneity, the sense of community and emphasis on self-sufficiency too!

Naturally, what I've heard of Burning Man has me awfully excited. I'm in the process of trying to convince my adorable twin sister to come with me so I'm not alone in my BM virginity.

September 2009 is not too soon to begin planning to go to 2010! Preparations are already under way -- the trickiest part will be getting my stuff there from all the way in Boston. I've looked into Boston Burners but have yet to receive a response (I assume they're busy).

I'll figure it out at some point! ;)

What about you guys? Any fellow Bostonians or New Englanders out there on ePlaya?

Dougly, you took the words right out of my fingers.

Rondo, I am from the east coast and I find that if I pack really wisely, I can get all I need in two large suit cases. There is also a truck that goes from Boston to BRC and they can haul larger things if you need it. I find it cheaper to buy a bike there and drop it off on the way out, than to ship it both ways. Keep in mind that there is every store imaginable in Reno and if you make lists of things you might need, you can buy it once the plane lands. Food, supplies, camping gear etc.

Read the first timers guide several times and try to anticipate every senario you might encounter.

Best of luck and WELCOME to you and your hot sister! :D

Lucid484: That's great! Nice to meet you -- I think western Mass is beautiful. Did you enjoy yourself this year?

Ugly Dougly: Having a cute twin is like getting two compliments for the price of one! ;) We try not to confuse people, but when our own father mixes us up (even in our twenties!) there isn't much one can do, ha ha.

Shambala: Thanks for your thoughtful advice! I've already read the guide (or guides, as there's a ton of great suggestions here on ePlaya and elsewhere on the Intertubes) a bunch of times -- I imagine I'll be reading it a hundred more by the time Metropolis 2010 arrives! That is great to hear about Reno's shopping. I heard about the moving truck out of Boston too, but the only messages I saw online were a few years old, so I wasn't sure if it was still ongoing -- fantastic option, though!

ygmir: Great to meet you! Thank you so much for your warm welcome. If you're out at next year's BM, hope to see you there!

jkisha: Ha ha ha! Actually, me and my twin occasionally finish each other's sentences, reply 'in stereo', all that stuff you hear about. Most common question we get: 'So if I punch her in the arm, will you feel it?' My answer: 'Nope! But you will! >:D'

actiongrl: Thanks so much!! (And me too!)

I think that they would be uncomfortable. Can't they get regular airline tickets?

I have two identical, large suitcases. At $25 per suitcase, how can you go wrong except they will need to get down to 50lbs.

By the way Rondo, I'm in Boston! Don't tell anyone.

/BRB TELLIN' THE WORLD

Really? That is excellent. Do the Boston Burners still meet Tuesday evenings at the Cambridge Brewing Co.? If they do, let's go toss back a few beers sometime! Absolutely love meeting new people.

i'm anxiously awaiting your resume.

also, a bunch of rooties from Bean Town and NY will be going to decompression in october in nyc.

you might wanna get your playa legs at this event as well as meet other potential camp mates.

as far as i'm concerned if what you say is true, you're already in...

i'll "sponsor" both of you for "membership" into the Root Society.

if this is a joke, and you're a sock puppet, we will find you using uber-geek technology, and then sadistically ruin your life slowly and methodically.

oh, you will get junk mail from the WORST places if you cross us.

Awesome, I'm actually going to be in New York City Oct 9-12 (going to a concert at Radio City Music Hall). When's the Decompression? I'll try to make it there so you know I'm not a sock puppet!

A resume, huh? What do you want to know?
