In search of adventure beyond Burning Man
I can't think of a better community to pose this question to: Seeking thoughts on where I should go, how I should get there and how I should get back. Tramping? Hitching rides? By bike or on my own two feet. I have two weeks of vacation time in December and I want to do something that's as interesting as Burning Man (ok, that's a tall and likely impossible order) and more dangerous than the Mongol Rally. Please post your ideas - I'm at a loss!
I live in Denver and would prefer not to fly, drive, or the like for more than 10 hours to get there.

Nothing. There is nothing but Burning Man. All else is a realm of despair!
OK, not exactly. Find your purpose in life. Join a cult, whatever, do what you can do benefit society. Find a lover, settle down, have little vagabond children. Write the Great American Novel. Discover the cure for cancer. Mentor some kids. Start your own regional festival. Whatever. Get busy.

It's been decided ... I cheated ... it's not the Navy ...
Peru ... I cheated ... it's more than 10 hours ... ayahuasca and the Inca trail/Machu Pichu. Just bought my ticket.

Why not get something together yourself? Throw a party.
You already know when.
You can probably think of where.
You get to decide who to invite.
You partly, maybe, control what happens.
You define when and how.
It's got the challenge aspect, to be sure. It will certainly be interesting. You'll be around only the people you want, and it can be for up to 2 weeks. Heck, why not use the first week to set up and the second to party?

Peru, sounds good. I drove there several years ago. By the time I got to Lima, I was to trashed and broke to go to Machu Pichu. Next time, I'll take the truck;

I don't post things because I believe that they are the absolute truth. I post them because I believe that they should be considered.
