ok so, second year for the money bucket:
report:
it started with 108 dollars and some change, all coins.
I hung it in front of our camp, again, on a tripod.
most of the week went as last year, bills coming and going, other 'gifts'....like flowers and candy wrappers.......
One fellow would stop every day, sometimes more than once, and, if he thought no one was looking, would take a handful of money, grin like he was "getting away" with something, and, scurry off.
on Sunday morning, I noted almost half the bucket was gone.......
well, that's what it's there fore, so, hooray, perhaps it helped someone (hoping someone took it from need, not greed)
On Sunday afternoon, a fellow came to camp asking for money for gas to get to court in Reno.......he had quite a story about his friends leaving early and they were going to help with gas money (working hard here not to judge or think about his "self reliance" issues).
Well, I said:
"There's a bucket of money with a sign on it over there, it says take it or leave it, so............"......he seemed truly grateful, hugged me and grabbed the bucket. I asked him to leave the bucket and perhaps go get a container, so I could still carry on the experiment.....
He did.
A camp mate made a note, and, put it in the bucket: "All tooK"......it was a cute idea.
anyway, someone put a dollar bill and some change in later........
then, the fellow who stopped by every day was passing, saw me and said:
"Hey, you're the god of money" and, walked over and hugged me.
then, he looked in the bucket, and said:
"is that all that's left?", and, took all the money except for the two pennies and walked away.........
I noted lots of folks this year looking and, when it was empty, seeming quite dissapointed.
Perhaps a reflection of "the times"? who knows.
As I left Tuesday morning, I took the bucket down last.......and, noted 4 dollar bills in the bottom.
Perhaps, there is still hope............

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Interest..ing
credit, debit........
hhhhmmmmmm the electronic age approacheth..........
I like the reactions of folks when they see "real" (central bank and Fed not withstanding), money in a bucket and that sign........
it, at times, reminds me of the old program, "Candid Camera".......

I wonder how many people take money just to test the novelty of it?
Check out 'Just For Laughs', made in Quebec.
They go way beyond candid cameras stunts.
Many of their ideas could be used at burning man.
Some of the stuff they pull would never be filmed in the us, as with fake cops and so on.
It's under Just For Laughs Gags most places and in french too, Gags Juste pour rire.

partial after report:
This year, the bucket was almost and "ATM"
someone must have been playing poker nearby.
at night, it'd get bills, and, I assume, change was taken.
in the morning, the bills would disappear, I assume, folks on the way to coffee. (some said so, as they took money)
I noted different foreign coins and currency at times, and, folks actually coming by, looking for it and taking things, for their "collection".
Some folks remembered it from years past, and, brought money.......some, remembered and came looking for same.
But, in the end, it has money in it, looks roughly the same, unlike last year, when it got emptied by the "raver dude" who said he needed gas money to get to "court".
I'll report when I get the time to count it.

Thursday @ About 3:45 in the morning we took aprox. $12.75 in Qtrs. to play poker with. The game proceeded, predictably, on to Strip Pokeher, and a invigorating game of Quarters using 100proof Vodka / redbull for shooters. I figure we lost about $3.50 into the couch while laying pokeher. And Big-John-son claims he swallowed a Qtr. While Slamming his shot. but he's a known liar so we think he just faked it. all in all, by my piss-poor accounting methods (part of which includes tea leaves) I "Owe" the bucket; $9.00, the very same $9.00 two of my camp mates claim to have been "Gifted by our Stuffed Hippo" for Friday morring coffees at Center camp.

I was cruising the city with Elliot on his big four wheel bike in search of the money bucket, when we did find it, he gifted me a couple foreign coins to drop in the bucket. I noticed a couple dollar bills in there, but not much else, that was early in the week.
What other people think about you is none of your business.

Re: money bucket
Bump.
the money bucket, will return again, somewhere near 5 and "C", should be within a block, but hopefully, we'll be on that corner.
Tripod metal stand, galvanized milk bucket with a sign below:
"Money: take it or leave it".
