Art on the Playa... rant against dome tents.....
OK... I' working on this idea....
Art out on the Playa... cool.... but everyone lives in dang dome tents....(now I kinda hate dome tents.... long story and if you wanna hear it... hell PM me...) )
anyway...
I want to make a "theme" camp that is a living piece of art...
Art exist out on the Playa... but why do all of the artist live in dome tents....
(yeah... dome tents work... but they have no soul.....)
OK... I can't peg it down... I have this idea...... and it is a good strong idea... I just need to find other s that want to play......
But I will start another thread for that....
anyway... if art is so cool.... why do the artist live in such common shelters ?
(yeah.. I know they are cheap.......but it still doesn't explain why they are so common at what I kinda thought was a buncha crazed artist doing something different.....
Back in the 60's they were the cutting edge of tech... they still work....but why would an artist live in one?
They are too common............
)oh yeah... I', working on something else.......so you may wanna play or not...)

So let's see... I'm a crazed artist, and putting alla my effort into making an art project....but art has no other meaning than my art project......
So obviously I disagree...
If your mind is working on something artistic... why would you want to live in something that is so "canned".... common... not artistic?
Yeah... dome tents work......they keep you kinda shaded... and kinda sorta out of the elements......
Dome tents work for the weekend campers .....
but does that excuse them?
they are still too damn common...
sure they work... they keep you covered.....but so does a pair of cheap Wal-Mart blue jeans.......

Like drum machines.
Also: we would have accepted the Tin Man, Bernie Madhoff and/or Hessians.
Irony. You're soaking in it.
I thought all the real artists camped in huge rented motorhomes, paid for with their art grants?
I camped in a 50-year-old collapsed canvas tent from Sears with broken poles. It kept the dust out, more or less. Does this make me more or less artistic in your worthy judgment? Does a hexayurt have your blessing?
Personally, I try not to spend a lot of time in my tent. I go back there to catch a few hours sleep, maybe. I don't feel it reflects on my artistic sensibilities.

Dude, how can you go anywhere outdoors in the west and hate dome tents? Does the history of Jansport or North Face or Shelter Systems or Sierra Designs mean nothing to you?

Who the fuck lives in a dome tent at Burning Man? Hardly anyone! Burners live in RVs. If you want artsy Rvs, check out some of the customized busses. Those are the ultimate Burning Man homes.
OK Mister Crazed Artist, what the hell do you live in?
You should list what you feel are some of the best playa art projects... then we should see if we can figure out whether their creators lived in what you consider correct playa abodes.

OK... I messed up... (not that I ever do that....)
SO I will try again....(and probably mess it up just as much...)
One ...
Anyone can sleep in any structure that the want to sleep in...(and they don't need my permission to do so.....)
I still think dome tent suck...
But if you sleep in one... hey I don't hate you for that....
What I wanted to post is....
I want to do something that is a camp that is an art work..... not all of the art has to be out on the Playa (well out in the circle...whatever....)
But where the camp is an Art work.....
Not just the tent, or looking good... but everything (well most of everything) is a chunk of art... something that everyone in camp looks at.... and goes.... whoh...cool........
And I'm messing up again.....the idea is there.... but the words fail me....
OH yeah... someone asked me what I camped in.... I was going kinda Steampunkish./Great White Explorer.... so I made my tent (yeah I sewed it) to go with that concept....
or something like that....see I typed that I would mess- up again.......

Too bad you can't camp in the designated art space, even if your art is a camp.
Unless your name is Dicky.

For others to pick up, to peruse, and ponder upon. Oh, the intricacies. Eclectic is good, subtleties are not wasted, but relished. For they themselves create the whole picture.

Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.
