Grande Design

So, I know about 10 people who either came away from Burning Man or want to spend their virgin year with a grand plan for a camp. Since this is going to be a powerful year, I am wondering how many people are considering huge plans? How many will really come to life? Is it the best laid plans... hm.

I designed a whole camp with an awesome theme and architecture to meet Metropolis:Cit of Life theme... going with the old 20's film. NOT Superman people.

I have seen some big ideas out there. Sigh... what about you?

No offense please Toaster...
But first things first...
write all that down...
Now try to distinguish what is a viable plan and what is an expectation...
Take the next 5 months to distinguish the difference...throw all idea's that form in a expectation to the way side...go with what you can do...and if everyone flaked on you, and you stood alone, what would you be willing to pull off alone.

And for one to demand something of another in the way of their burn. be careful, everyone's burn is their own...
There are pretty lights out there....beware!

Oh and playa time happens....

example...(its 10:20 am)lets all meet at 330pm to build this today..ok ralph, see you then ...ok peggy, timmy, sally and pete see ya then....

3:30 come and go and all the above mentioned people disappear for 2 days...wander back into camp with shit eating smiles on their faces and a glossy glare in their pupils(small example of what Mind blow side effects look like)

What will your reaction be, you've been sitting in camp for 48 hrs waiting for these total flakes to return......
Names pinemom, but my friends call me "Piney".

Grand theme camps are a product of awesome Playa people, not grand ideas.

Get your ten people together every Sunday between now and Xmas and build a 1:10 scale model of your awesome theme camp.

You and the one or two folks that persist will be the ones building it on the Playa. The rest are dead weight. Fire them.

Now you and your reliable friends can scale back the project and each person takes ownership of small parts that will build the whole.

Invite more people in and repeat process until you have 6 or 8 reliable folks on your team. This may take several months or even years.

Good luck.

That is great advice.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Thanks - both of you! Now I feel like sharing! If someone steals my idea - you suck - but maybe someone will help me bring it to life?

My concept is designed to be pretty art neuveau (sp) with the Metropilos idea and is also based on the 7 deadly sins... Time is short. I'd love to have it ready by the time Element-11 roles around and preview it there. Me - I do not have the resources for it for now. Ugh... I am working out the budget still.
