The third wall refers to the invisible line at the end of the stage that separates the audience from the actors. Breaking that wall, refers to the practice of getting the audience directly involved in the play, by doing things like talking to them, or even starting a scene with the actors in the audience. Some directors use this technique to get the audience more directly involved in the play. Alternately, some directors abhor this practice and consider it very untheatrical and unprofessional.

Iceland is worth seeing.
It has some of the most dramatic geology in one place.
Any trip to europe can include a stop.

I can't believe it's been over a year since I started this thread! And quit my job, and rented out my house, and sold or gave away nearly everything I owned. I didn't wind up walking to California but I did go meditating and spent 3 weeks in black rock helping build something. Then I moved to New Zealand. The last couple of months there I was running out of money so I started playing poker to make a living and have continued that here in Australia. The tables here are ripe for the picking! Another couple months of this I'm hoping to save enough to go partying in (and exploring the rich cultural history of) Thailand then off to Macau and wherever else I can find some big casinos and reasonable living expenses in Asia.

Looks like I'm going to stay a nomad poker player for a while, so any more suggestions for interesting ways to spend my time would be appreciated! I'm down to one suitcase and plan to stay that way so I can pretty much go anywhere.

Are you suggesting he scatter carved work all over the world in mysterious places?

Hitchhike on a sailboat. You're in Australia and you want to go to Thailand, so it's easy. Go to Darwin, in the Northern Territories, find the Dinah Beach Yacht Club (more of a down to earth bar on the lagoon's edge than a club), and start chatting up anyone who looks foreign. Almost everyone sailing through Darwin will be on their way West to Bali, and most people this month will be headed North from there to Borneo, Singapore, Malaysia, and then Thailand. It's getting too late in the seasons for the people who are heading to Madagascar and Africa, they're probably already in the Indian Ocean.

But you've got to hurry, I think the hurricane season (or whatever it's called in Australia, willy wally or wally willy or something kangaroo-ish like that) starts around November-ish, so anyone who's going somewhere is going soon. The trip to Bali should be absolutely beautiful and calm, even if you are the kind that gets seasick, unless you are hit by an early willy-wally-roo. And if you're lucky they might stop in Komodo or some other amazing place on the way (giant lizards that eat deer!). North from Bali there to Singapore should be rougher, so jump ship if you are unsure of your mettle after that first easy trip, but if you have the stomach for it, sailing through Indonesia is so neat because you can stay in rural places that don't have hotels. Get them to stop in Kalimantan and take a river boat to see the endangered orangatangs before they are all killed by loggers making 'Indonesian Teak' furniture for Cost Plus...

dork, there are some good suggestions here; http://www.1000beforeyoudie.com/
If you want to go to sea, here's a good site; http://www.floatplan.com/
If you take some classes in navigation, sailing and cooking, you can get on just about any boat.
I've been a lot of places. While islands have lots of allure, there is an amazing amount of interesting stuff in Turkey. Egypt is fascinating. As long as your health holds out, the world is your oyster.
I don't post things because I believe that they are the absolute truth. I post them because I believe that they should be considered.

Hmmm, your words are rather seductive. And familiar. Hmmmmmm, and your handle, somewhat familiar

Maybe I'll have to wander off to your www site for a looksie. Insert Jeopardy music here Why, it is you! The anchor worked nicely, thank you. Had a few nice comments on it. Never did get around to putting up my "fleet" though the harbor lights worked good (solar that is, the el wire ran on 9v batts which I didnt realize before hand and lacked a stash) I'll be going antiquing in a week, plan on seeing what I can find to add to my collection.
Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.
