Ayup! Hello from Manchester Monkeys!!! (UK that is......)
Hi everyone,
Me and my good lady friend are coming out to BRC in 2010 and already have so many questions that have come out of reading too much information on the site and personal opinion!!!
So i though what better way than to get more personal opinon!!
Our main problem is going to be flying in from the UK. This means transport and stuff.
We really didnt want to rent a car as were already going to be paying about $800 each for flights.
We just wanted to bum a lift there and back. But its looking like you need some serious provisions....
Is it true about the amount of water you need to take???!!! You cant get it there??
Fire extinguisher? Are you serious????!!!!!
If anyone can shed light on what the true necessities are and stories from other UK burners would be greatly appreciated.
BINGLE!

You need at least a gallon a day.
I try to take 3 for each day.
If you are staying long, many people dump water as they leave.
This year was cool.
In a dryer, windier, hotter year, you can drink a gallon a day.
A hand sprayer is priceless for conserving water and cleaning.
Always take one.
And if you want a shower, you can use water fast.
A big bug sprayer (new) can use very little water for that.
Washing hair is the big use.

well, really, the survival guide lays it out quite clearly and, accurately.
But, if you choose, you can view it as a comic book, and, we can all watch you turn into a dried apple person, or jerky, in the street, while begging for supplies...........
welcome to eplaya!!
There are many threads that address the info you seek, grasshopper.
or, there are folks here that will help, some seriously, some with a smattering of snark.....some will just point and laugh.........
Choose now, but, choose wisely......

i would apply now for your Brit Pass, as Burning Man LLC has limited the number of Englanders allowed into the event (for obvious reasons which we don't need to go into right now) and if you meet all of the requirements, you will be camped in the special British Internment Zone, just north of Trego.
we're hoping to keep the numbers down, so you better hurry before all 50 slots are sold out!
bring your own tea, too.
Ta!

ummm, at least i speak english.
I'm not sure what they have been teaching you on Air Strip One, but it is not the same language that we have learned here.
Is this a British Form of Ebonics? A dialect long lost? some kind of Island Slang or Patois?
pray tell, what on god's earth are you fucking saying my google translator refuses to recognize the above blather.

There are many alternatives for international travelers to obtain and haul your stuff out to the desert. Try the various bus services like Green Tortoise or the the Biobus and the like. If you fly into San Francisco, Green Tortoise has a hostel downtown where you can stay while you purchase your gear (small tent, sleeping bag,backpack,food,etc...). They provide water and a camping area for you to stay but they are fairly expensive.
You could fly into Reno, get your supplies at the various hitchhiking pickup spots, pay your driver a few bucks for petrol( If you feel lucky.)
Renting a truck, car,or RV has its' own costs and benefits. Check out the search fuction of this blog site. Read the F.A.Q. threads. Start now, 11 months go quick, first order of business is buying your ticket when available.

Oh, if only it were bouncy dreamland of BOOBZ BOOBZ BOOBZ...
Taken me a while to get back to the thread.... I had some british things to do:
-Have tea with the Queen
-Tidy my castle
-Eat some marmalade
-Make some utterly witty high brow comments about foreign types
-Randomly standing to attention shouting "Gawd bless d queen" while saluting the Union Jack and listening to the natioanl anthem and sticking a fork in my leg for fear that my stiff upper lip might quiver at the sheer majesty of it all...........
So if im understanding this correctly.... Start saving now because its gonna cost a fuckload of money, drink mucho water, drink mucho tequila, take many drugs, rent an RV, run run RUUNNN for the hills when you encounter Roberto Dobbisano while sobbing and quaking like a limey MF???
No seriously Roberto, in the words of Rodney Dangerfield "Hey, you're alright....."
