I simply want a My thred to drift off into oblivion, i know it will and once it clears page one, and everone loses interest I will eb able to find it on page 2, then 3, eventually having to search for it when I feel the need to visit.

Hmm, how would we know if you locked it or not? We have a GOD-GIVEN RIGHT TO POST, so maybe you did lock it, but since we have GOD (and the pope it seems) on our side we were able to post anyways!
