and fishy, this friend worked with me on pronunciation before i went to germany, and taught me some of the more important phrases, like "ein bier, bitte." i am very jealous of you multi- and bi-lingual people ....

I'm mostly monolingual wiht a scattering of spice. It made me so sad when I was in Europe and I couldn't really speak. Although, if you go to Prague, a little czech will get you lots of brownie points. Um, Schweik points. When I hit Venice my brain revolted and all I learned is "Prego!"
