We'll be making our haunted house again for trick-r-treaters. It was the best Halloween I've ever had, and I've always had a great time. Funny how burner gear can work for many other things.

Well, that wasn't my original thought when I posted the pic, but that's actually not a bad message at all.

And no, unfortunately I don't have the pumpkin carving gene; someone sent that pick to me in a halloween ecard.

Fuck!

I'm good at dressing up, not so good at costumes. Either a pirate (again) or a big black robe and gas mask.

Actually I was originally thinking about the robe as well, something with a big hoodie I could tie up around my face/gas mask. Maybe throw in some wicked boots. Ended up going with the cammies so I only had to pay S & H once (hey, I'm poor, what can I say) The mask has a drinking tube that I'll snake down into a canteen to hold my libation. So if you hear some strange sucking noise, that will be me

Going to CarnEvil, the burner-run event in Charlotte. It's pretty fun, gives the general public a taste of what a burn is like (fire performances, DJs, baby tossing, etc.).

I have been invited to a Halloween party through my help on a local mutant vehicle. The invite disclaimer is similar to the Burning Man ticket, (I will be responsible for my own safety,) so it should be fun. Getting connected locally pays off! Now I need to get a costume together. I haven't had a halloween costume in over 15 years! I think there will be lights involved, black light paint too. I got some spider lights that moan and howl and run off batteries. One can't have too much of that sort of thing. Then the weekend after (11/7) there is a regional burner event with camping outside of San Jose/Los Gatos by Lexington Resevoir. http://www.southbayburners.org/events.html Suit up and show up. Two good weekends in a row!

A burner named Fuser made a magnificent, awesome, backyard halloween grotto with long scary dark tunnels that ended with secret doors to the next area, loads of blacklight, skeletons, creepy motorized ghouls, cemetary, did I mention blacklights? It was really a work of heart. Well thought out with portapotties, lounge areas, dance areas, fantastic. I manged to cobble together a costume of pith helmet with fiber optic spray and slowchanging led lights, cheezy sort of overmantle/shoulder boards with lots of blacklight paint, and spider lights. it's been at least fifteen years since I went to a Halloween party. The "What are you?" question is always a stumper, I forget that's part of how some folks design a costume. Anyway, it's clean and ready to go for September! Check. I am not a good party attender, but I am practising. I chatted, bobbed a bit to the music, and when it got sardinish in the grotto, I got a bit claustrophobic, and felt that I had accompished what I set out to do, which was suit up, and attend. I met a fellow who had a regular sized bic lighter with a flashilight and compass built in. Keep your eyes open, there's more stuff out there you haven't seen yet! I saw lots of great zombies, and listened to an interview with George Ramiro on the way to the party. Where do folks weigh in on slow and indestructable zombies vs. scary fast and strong virulent zombies? George said he thinks slow and lumbering and virtually unstoppable zombies are scarier.

I threw together a gypsy costume, not too difficult, and sat outdoors. wehave a nice new conversation bench (two seats and a table thingy). mrs. Bucky was there, ans so were the littler Buckys, Bucky himself needs a hip replacement and stayed in the basement. Anyway, the kids would roar up the porch steps, not seeing me down in front of the picture window. I spooked a few! The best were the kids who stood in front of Mrs. Bucky and waved their hands: "Aw, this one doesn't react". One boy then stood on front of me, intently. I jumped forward and waved my hands, "But I do!" Scared him! He kept telling his friends that he knew I was real all along. Didn't get as many tricker or treaters as last year, there are fewer and fewer each year. I blame the stupid church up the street for the trunk or treat... handing candy out from the back of a car. How dull! And the mall stores were handing out candy. Good marketing, but no room for highjnks.

Later, we got suited up and went over to Genius and Borderline's place to help celebrate the new firepit. Larry has all these wonderful costumes, but he threw on his motorcycle jacket and skullcap. Sometimes low-key works too.

My housemate Brian from the DPW took his two American Alpine goats out into the neighborhood to go trick-or-treating.

The neighbors weren't convinced that they were very large rabbits - even though each was wearing a pair of very large rabbit ears.

Halloween,halloween,halloween, halloween
Candy apples and razor blades, little dead are soon in graves, I remember halloween, this day anything goes, burning bodies hanging from poles, I remember halloween.
