Hopefully someone has moved the couch by now and disposed of it.

Fishy should get a weapon attached to that chair for just such an occasion. I'm a little surprised that other burners around you didn't help by calling out the queue jumpers on their rudeness. As Larry said this summer, guilt works to make change happen.

wanting to offer a fair curriculum to the kids, it's multiple choice day:

teach the children that chaps are by definition ass-less, that east coast sarcasm is as much a birthright as "burners" being self-absorbed artards, and that they don't actually bring any "magick" into the world, punching kittens is more effective than kicking puppies, west coast vibetribers will never get anything done past formulating "a plan", teach personal responsibility as myth, never look up and/or make eye contact while walking while fumbling w/technology, and that being a bitter, small-minded, gorilla-fisted keyboard puncher is as easy as telling yourself how awesome you are because nobody else fucking cares.

inspired by an llc version:

teach the children to form a committee to talk about thinking about the possibility of addressing the entire issue of future couch removal, pending budget approval of an investigative report to also be commissioned by an as-yet-to-be-elected council with no immediate transparency, regulatory oversight or accountability.

inspired by the moop version:

at least it's only a rotting couch, and not a 55gal. drum full of menstrual blood and used feminine hygiene products floating and bobbing - (that being my favorite left @ blackrock "finding" ever, and a fine example of burner/human insensitivity-)-thanks! truly awesome, even more so than collegians leaving used condoms on the car.....

and then my personal feelings on the couch:
move it yourself if it's bothering you so damn much, the couch wont mind.

Hey, we want kids to be smarter, we should toss "multiple guess" and make it essay questions only.

Of course, and essay question answer is only as good as the teacher who grades it. and I'm sure I'm not the only one to know that I'm smarter than my teachers were. At least some of them.

So, forget teh children, we can't teach them anyway. We should let them run feral on the streets until they're 20 and then we catch them and civilize them!

What bothers me about this tread is two things- one to believe that all burners are responsible beings and two the lack of initiative on the part of the poster to solve the problem on he's own.

We still have people leaving Couches on the playa I presume and since the demography of people attracted to BM hasn't changed so what makes people think that they won't do it elsewhere!

Yes, guilt does work as It has been used by the big three religions for the past several thousands years and as you see for all the wrong reasons!

Personally, my advice would be to get your ass off the couch and do it yourself!
