The question is perhaps better phrased as "how do I help my partner to feel safe if I go to Burning Man alone?" If you need permission to go then there are most likely some issues that need discussion regardless of the event.
I've been going since 1999 without my spouse. I had significant help from my/our therapist, who supported my going. We've stayed monogamous, and she has still not gone (although is becoming more interested).
Work on the communication angle. It's bound to help you both, regardless of whether either of you goes.

Yea, I've seen that too.......
I think the title of the thread says it all...... someone else shouldn't have that much influence over you... nor you over her..... in a real relationship...... jus sayin....But, I'm an old fuck, what do I know...............

Not always true...Ugly Dougly wrote:Nobody has a worse time at Burning Man than someone who has forced to go.
Unless it's the person who forced them to come along!
My (now) ex-wife forced me to go. The deal was I got to go see the band CockSparrer, IF I took her to Burning Man. Turns out, tickets for the show were sold out, and I wound up watching figure skating on TV that night.
We did make it to Burning Man, however. To make a long story short..I loved it! And she hated it! That was 1999, and I've been going ever since..with a couple exceptions, which I made up for at 4th of Juplaya..
anything worth doing is worth overdoing..

Potsdam rocks but we should have been told
of freedoms new and rivals old
We played the set and we encored fast,
then the dressing room door was locked at last
In retrospect, the mistake was the fact that the sign didn't say: no baseball bats
That sucks you missed them Tom.
