Crypto: He means Grain Alcohol, also known as Ethanol. Many Vodkas and Gins are made from flavored and diluted Ethanol, rather than from their traditional recipes. In fact, few Vodkas are made from Potatoes anymore (Absolut, for instance, is not.) If you want to try a potato Vodka, I recommend Glacier, from Idaho.
