first burning man this year, riding back, meet new folks ?

Post by steelteacher » Tue Sep 29, 2009 2:56 pm

Hi. I am new to burning man and to forums.

this was my first burning man and it blew my mind. I am hoping to get involved with as much as I can for next year (need any steel sculpture or structural welding or ? - I've done a fair range of stuff, and am hoping to be able to get to next year early to help someone or someones build whatever, preferably the biggest, craziest sculpture possible, but I'll take anything I just want to be there and create/help create/build - can also help plan/fab beforehand have small shop big tools and can travel to yours as well) ANYWAY.

I am about to depart Reno (long story) on my motorcycle to ride back to Maryland and thought it would be nice if I could meet burners along the way. I am planning to camp out most of the way, so I am not begging for a bed. Just good times with fun people. I'll be going south from reno to I-10, and going across the country to Austin, TX. from there it will be either north and heading through appalacia, or to the gulf coast and then north. Either way I'll be hitting Greensboro, NC for sure, and maybe Ashville, as well. In between I don't know the exact route, but I am quite smitten with burning man and it would be great to meet more like-minded folks, am willing to detour especially if it involves fun to ride back roads.

I hope I posted this in the right place.

Adam

Welcome
You did post it in the right place.
If you contact the lost and found there is a small chance your mind can be returned to you.

Unless DPW served it with cheese and crackers.

thanks for the welcome and affirmation of placement.
as for my mind - it is probably eaten already - well seasoned with tasty welding fumes, its smoky carcinogenic goodness goes particularly well with a lightly grilled manchego.

Wow, that's awesome

Ok, I like this guy. Granted I have no specific reason of note so as to narrow it to something useful, but overall, I like him. Ever in Utah, feel free to stop on by, as we are considering an art project that might actually fit in perfectly with your skills.

Dan (still considering a playa name for next year)

If you come through Memphis, say hello.

I'm contemplating a project for next year that involves no welding.
You'd be perfect for it.

Probably gone, but Dry Creek Cafe on Mt Bonnell was a wonderful place.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

You might want to use a prefilter on the playa.
Other than that, just clean the bike later.

There's a shit ton of burners in Aville and Greensboro - Gvegas has its own theme camp, the Philosophers Stone, that has been to the playa, and all the SE regionals.

Get thee to couchsurfing.com.
