I gather that this commercial actually went out over the air (it was done live) in the 1960's.

Since it's on tape, odds are it was done as a joke and never aired.
But it's possible.

There aren't many film crews that can resist doing this at one time or another.
We did one on a news set once that was so bad, we decided to erase them.
Everybody has a blooper reel and they do get traded.
I remember one of a set collapsing on the air that was dramatic.
And hysterical.

I did find this:
Ralph Williams eventually went to jail for cheating his customers. But Cal kept up his spiel through several dealerships and many different Spot’s.
The "Cal" in that being Cal Worthington (and his dog Spot, which was usually some exotic circus or zoo animal).

I'm guessing he had to be pretty bad to go to jail.
They never seem to take that kind of thing seriously.

Deb, that was brillient! Stop motion (and that may not technically qualify, but I don't give a shit) is so simple and direct that it's really my favorite. (Although I'm not the animation geek I was in my 20s.) You see the neatest things. And it's very much in the hands of the people, because any group of friends can do it for free, but it's probably a lot more expensive than other methods for professionals. And those absolutely random people popping in for a frame or two were just very atmospheric.

Is anyone else also fond of the 1969 version of Midsummer Night's Dream?

Yes! That version is one of the sexiest I've ever seen. I've had a crush on Diana Rigg since the Avengers, but Helen Mirren as Titania was amazing!

Nice one Lonestoner

Here is a Remembrance Day video showing the Highway of Heroes in Canada. When a soldier returns to Canada the casket arrives at Trenton Air Force Base where they are greeted by family members, then the casket is taken to Toronto to the Official Coroner. The hearse travels along the #401 highway where there are over 50 overpass bridges. Volunteers are called out to stand at the bridges and welcome home the soldier. I've done this myself many times. It is a very moving experience. The traffic is stopped as the hearse and its procession passes. This is the busiest section of highway in Canada and yet we all stop for a moment to acknowledge the contribution.

That's not fair. Star Trek is the worst at so many things. Worst Seduction Scene. Worst Special Effects. Worst dialogue.
