In the Ashes of the MAN

Post by miscellaneous shenanigans » Sun Oct 25, 2009 3:22 pm

2009 was my first burn, and possibly the greatest experience of my life. As difficult as it is to quantify the experiences of Burning Man, i would have to say that the ashes of the Man were my most cherrished moments. It started as a rush of adrenaline as we all circled the man in joyfull anarchy, and some of the bravest jumped over the outer wall of flames into the center of the inferno(which was unbelievably hot, but offered a small space inbetween the actual man and the ring of two by fours, which circled the man). But as the flames died down annd became more tame, a calm and somewhat romantic feeling replaced the anarchy. I witnessed a series of emotional, spiritual, and lasting events that i couldn't tear myself away from. I spent the entire night there and enjoyed the greatest sunrise of my life along with many other amazing people. If you were at the Ashes of the Man and have anything to share about it, please do. Perhaps you were one of the extrordinary people that i converesed with that night.

08 was my first and only burn so far. I had front row seats to the man burn, 4 beers, and a cutie to watch it with. After the man fell and we heard the rAngers talking about letting everyone run around the man, it seemed about the right time to leave. it was a really nice, open walk back to camp. My friend gave me some chocolates which were great and we went walking around the burbs that night. much fun.

D'uh! That's how we wind up the earth. Like a manual clock.

In 2003, who put the marshmallow peeps in the ashes? Or did they survive the fire? Id like to think they did. They we're lined up, neatly, around the burn area.
anything worth doing is worth overdoing..
