Not sure about NE burners but all the burners from the East travel on I80 through NE. So for a week before and a week after the burn the state has a couple thousand extra ones making their way through!!!

Stopped at Sidney on one trip out and there was this horrendous rain storm which flooded the roads. They closed I80 and we ended up staying the night. Love NE but that rain was intense. We happened to be inside the WalMart when the rain started and couldn't believe it when we came out - the greeters were sweeping the water out the door with huge squeegee type brooms.

Good luck finding mates in your state - they must be there. If you do, maybe consider holding an event during the week before or the week after. We'll stop on the way through and hug y'all.

Yes there are, but at this time of the years there all tied up worshipping the Cornhuskers :D

Where are you located in NE? Maybe there is a large active burner community in Omaha? Oh, who am I kidding?

Hey gerlachedNloaded;

Just went through 200 pages of the membership list (yeah, I know I was bored) and I discovered a handful of eplayans who declare their home as NE. Of course there are 187 pages of eplayans who don't list their location.

Anyway here is the result:

Not at all. I'm in Colorado until the end of the year and then my fiancee and I are moving back to Nebraska....outside of Lincoln actually. I'm putting my hat in the ring to become a Co-Regional for Nebraska as well and was told by the BM Staff that there are others who have expressed interest...so to answer your question no you are not alone.

If I may I have to put in a shameless plug for the Kansas / Missouri regional to our South. Zay is the original coordinator for KS/MO and that group has a regional burn that is definitely worth going to along with other events going on.

All in all there's definitely a BM presence building in Nebraska and I'm glad you spoke up and asked. Interested in becoming a co-regional? I can forward on Megs info if you're interested.

I went through nebraska this year.
I think I may have met everyone.
Stopped at the first cabelas.
They have tents set up outside, so you can actually see them!!!
I like that.

And nebraska has REAL weather info at the rest stops.
That was really appreciated.
The screens had satellite photos and only lacked directional info.
This was helpful as I had to decide whether to stop or try to drive through the rain.
And those screens are accessible 24 hours a day.
We should all lobby for our states to offer this.
I tried without success to get this information at truck stops.

I'll be taking 1-80 through nebraska next time, before cutting south to memphis.
A good route.

Actually SailMan, I was only trying to help out a burner. You know me, always looking for a way to help.

Thanks for the invite, SailMan. I may take you up on that idea but I'll have to find a couch to surf if I'm going to drink.

Did you happen to save the links?
There is no way to access pages directly without that.
I stored some and may be able to find them.
It is a weird failing of most forum software with anything with many pages.

oh dear, gyre. Not sure that I know how to do that in this clumsy atmosphere. How I found the list was to put the membership list in descending order on LOCATION. These names all came up either under O for Omaha or NE for Nebraska, if that helps.

I did think I saved enough information here to make it easy for gerlachedNloaded. Can you not just do a search on each name to get their profile (and an easy click to their email)?

Sorry if I've made it harder by not having links.

The problem is going to a certain letter or page without a name.
The same issue occurs on the longer threads.

A set of urls will help people get to the general area.

Unfortunately most people don't list location or email.
Sometimes location is buried in other info on the profile though.

Not Nebraska specifically.
Just frustrated with the way the software doesn't allow direct access to pages.
Turn, scroll, turn, continue until dead.

Can't find most of my notes but here is some to build on.
Maybe we can crack the page code?
Letter locations change, but the page numbers are stable.

Did you call this software? Geesh gyre, I call it an interface that hides the gerbils working feverishly in the background.

Anyway, I took one of the names (polykarmatic, I think) and did a search, so here is one profile:

http://eplaya.burningman.org/profile.ph ... ofile&u=88

The search unfortunately will not work for any of these names if they have made 0 posts which is the case for some.

I was more interested in an index direct to certain pages for convenience.
Often I remember a name, but not precisely.
And it's not convenient to always start at Page One or last.
This applies to any long threads too.
I think I was originally trying to see which names had been used already and find burners in my area.

Okay, I used your formulas and played with them a bit.

There are five Nebraskans on this page:

http://eplaya.burningman.org/memberlist ... start=5665

And the Omaha folk are on this page:

I used Location rather than UserName. And I used descending order because I wanted to eliminate all the ones with no location identified (about 195 pages) then i worked my way from the end of the file to find the pages.

This method worked for this instance only because I had already gone through every single page to find the people to make a list for gerlachedNloaded. The Nebraskans had all chosen either Omaha or Nebraska or NE to describe their location.

Of course this isn't complete since half the memberlist contains no location identifier on the profile.

So I checked for human error (mine) and found one more Nebraskan in Lincoln:

sad... other than kinetic v, not a single person on the list for Omaha, or NE for that matter, has been active in like 5 years. SO, looks like me n him are gonna have to take that proverbial bull by the horns and get something started.

Yeah, it seems a shame, gerlachedNloaded.

Here's the most recent discussion about organizing in Nebraska:

http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... highlight=

And it appears that most of the ones on that list checked in to that thread to say where they were from.

Good luck with your project to get folks together.

OK. My fault. I listed location as "Living on the staple". Actually Omaha Nebraska, and I too have thrown in my hat for regional.

2009 was my first year, and am booked for 2010 already.

Attended with my son, who thereafter set off for a zen monastery in Japan. Go figure.

Posted photos from my experience on my website.

I'd be happy to get together. I've a couple of informational speaking engagements coming up, and would welcome the input.

Drive like the wind Deb, drive! drive! You can make it if you leave right now.

On a related note, come on over to K'zoo on 12-5 as we face to face with some Lofers and Bell's Beer and start fleshing out LOF 10.

Hey SailMan;

Nothing like short notice! Can't do it today.

However your invite for the LoF thing sounds interesting. Is that Dec 5 in the 'zoo? If so, I'll mark my calendar. Would I be welcome at an organizers meeting? I'm not one of the head honchos for that event but could make a contribution by doing the newspaper again. And could be railroaded into something beforehand.

My wife and I just moved to Omaha from Houston via Phoenix. We are burners through and through and would love to find a few like-minded folks to chill out with. Send me a note and we'll connect.
