*pours dregs from coffee pot*

thanks Deb, that's just right...........

I'm heading to the mountains today to close up my cabin for winter.....it doesn't look like I'll get the "shutters" done before the snow flies, and, since I don't have windows, yet, I better get 'em covered...........
I think this "flu" I've been fighting for two weeks is starting to take hold........so, I better get this done before I get really sick.
Dang, it's creeping up on me.
But, if I don't get it done today, and, get really sick and a storm comes, I'd have to go there and try then, which, would be more uncomfortable.....or, let the cabin fill with snow, and, maybe, have a bear or something decide to winter within...........and, what if skunk decided to take up residence? (some may argue one already has..........)

My beans are still on a bush in Columbia, I think. Juan Valdez is going up the mountain with his trusty donkey in the morning. Looks like that brew is going to take a while longer.

Anybody ever experienced the Ethiopian coffe service? Roast and brew.

The coffee is brewed by first roasting the green coffee beans over hot coals in a brazier. Once the beans are roasted each participant is given an opportunity to sample the aromatic smoke by wafting it towards them. This is followed by the grinding of the beans, traditionally in a wooden mortar and pestle. The coffee grounds are then put into a special vessel and boiled. The boiling pot (jebena) is usually made of pottery and has a spherical base, a neck and pouring spout and a handle where the neck connects with the base. When the coffee boils up through the neck it is poured in and out of another container to cool it, and then is put back into the boiling pot until it happens again. To pour the coffee from the boiling pot, a filter made from horsehair or other material is placed in the spout of the boiling pot to prevent the grounds from escaping.

Looks like we might have coffee next week here, folks.

Never had that full experience, Elorrum. However there is a small coffee shop in East London run by an Ethiopian refugee who roasts the beans in the shop. It smells glorious. I'll have to ask about getting the full service deal sometime.

(edited to spell Elorrum correctly. why do I want to put two 'l's and one 'r' ???)

Yeah, I see that. But our government isn't telling us to use a magic 8 ball, either.

HI everyone.....

back from the mountains......cabin secure, outhouses closed, and, made ready, in case anyone gets stranded up there in winter and needs emergency shelter........

(I built a new "outhouse", on a sealed concrete tank, and made it so, if a person had to shelter up there in emergency, they would have room to hang out, and be able to build a small fire on the floor, to keep warm.)
Also, made the bigger of the two "stalls" (boys and girls, or, whatever breakdown you like) disabled friendly, as to the best of my ability......wide door and all.
I'll credit Fishy for my awareness and thought of that.
Not sure it's perfect or correct, but, it's what I tried for...........

In hopes, at some point, we can have a burner party up there........yeehaw.......

One of my dreams for up there is to have a bunch of friends at my place,
which has a great view of the lake, and, set a "Viking boat" adrift on said lake, burning..............

ah well, dreams are what you make them.......

time for a brandy.

*staggers in*
Dang this "whatever it is"......makes a person week.......not super sick, but, "oooky".........

*makes coffee*

Anyone up?

Yeah, the party in the mountains should be fun.

Not sure when, if I had to guess, it'd be next spring.........I don't think I'll be able to get all things in place (and the Viking boat built) up there before the snow flies this year......but, I am trying...........At 5800' elevation, winter can come in fast.

I'll let everyone know with plenty of notice........
