Those new flat screens fit in the scanner a lot easier than the old CRTs.

Our camp was promoted to a prime Esplanade corner this year, and we decided it would be a good idea to have a bit more control over when we were "open". We brought several hundred feet of trash fence (safety yellow) and stakes and did a perimeter fence all the way around our not insubstantial space. We left openings on the two main entrances to our public space that were each about 16' wide and had a couple of gates we could close for our own access to the back. We rigged gates across the 16' openings so we could completely close when we wanted. We had one private event and would shut down around 3 or 4am each night, reopening around noon.
All in all I was glad we had the fence, but I did hear from some folks that it was kind of "offputting". When we were on the corner of 3:00 and A the last two years, it was fairly normal to find people crashed out in our lounge when we got up in the morning, puddles of barf, etc etc. Given the increased volume of traffic at 3:00 and Esplanade, our concern was that the unwelcome visitor problem would intensify. I have to say that the fence worked very well. Only one morning did we have an unknown sleeper on one of our couches and the incidents of folks walking among our vehicles in the back and peeing were nearly eliminated.
Would I do it again? Probably not to the extent we did. It became apparent about midweek that we had somewhat overreacted. We did prevent lots of short cutting across the 3:00 corner and I would probably still do something to block that path next time, but probably in a more discreet way. Fencing our entire perimeter was definitely not needed, but hell, we had already done 60% of the camp and the stake pounders were on a roll! Good fences make for good neighbors and we had some awesome neighbors! Probably would have been even better with a bit less fence, but that's another story!! lol

Does anyone else keep thinking that Camp Perimeter Fence is recruiting participants and its thread should be moved over to the 2010 Theme Camp forum?

Re: Camp Perimeter Fence
Hi, I've been doing this for 10 years, and I can tell you that for a 2 person non-theme camp, a fence is a waste of time.
Just circle the wagons with your vehicle and dome, and you'll be ok.
If you REALLY need a fance, a good strong fence, then some crappy thing with rebar isn't going to work. I would recommend T-Stakes and Snow fencing, the same stuff the Perimeter fence is made with. You'll also need a T-Stake pounder which you can get from Home Depot, or borrow from DPW (Ha!).
But yea... 2 people in a Van, and a small dome? You dont need a fence.

I'd use this and put chem lights in row six. It will help drive away the drunks, the morons, and those that can't see in the dark. what more do you need?
It could be an outdated paperwork issue or a hacker.
Just so you know.

I'm camping with Camp Exclusive this year. We'll be featuring a full razor wire perimeter fence with death lasers, motion sensors, and retina scanning keyless entry. Also every square inch of camp will be in view of our surveillance cameras which will be linked to our iphones so we'll be able to monitor our camp from any where on the playa. Our motto is "you aren't cool enough."
