Barbie Death Village Returns in 2010!
Back by popular demand, everyone's favorite theme camp, Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro, along with our fellow Villagemates camped out at Preserved In Time, Eden, BRC Body & Paint, Boosh: The Canadian Splinter Squad, The Alaskans, and hopefully the return of the International Burner Hostel (Burner International) will be making their triumphant return to Black Rock City! Last year we had over 200 of us and this year expect nearly 300 people in what is becoming the fastest growing village on the playa. And for good reason: We are the best village on the playa. Period. So, who wants in? Reservations required.

I'd like to find a camp
2009 was my first burn and it was glorious. But it was a mostly solitary experience, I didn't volunteer enough and wasn't social enough. I want to change that in 2010.
What makes a good Barbie Death Villager?

Hey Doc!
Mindy and I had a blast this year, and will certainly be back next year. I may even get my tower/camera to work this time...

Boston
Barbie Death Village was represented at the Boston Decompression as well! Our skewered Barbie head tower watched over the dance floor at Pandemic, and confused all!
Also it broke and stopped taking pictures, just like at the burn, wheeeeeeee!

I've met Doc Pyro several years running on the playa, and have followed him online even longer. Being brutally honest, he runs one of my favorite camps, a must stop every year. I can walk up to his camp and even when some of the clueless fucks on the 3playa were giving me shit, Doc Pyro never did. I got a smile always and if I had questions about the camp they got answered without attitude. In short, no drama. The way it should be. And in that note when I build my own camp, I intend to model some of it off of things I observed in Barbie Death Camp.
Doc Pyro, I'm glad your coming back but I want to take a minute and say thanks for being there over the past several years. You're just good people, and the playa is a better place because you are there. Again, Thank You!

I sincerely appreciate the kind words. We have always tried to be the nicest bunch of people on the playa. That's a major reason we do not do a dome: Domes tend to have bounderies that tell people (subconsciously or not) KEEP OUT UNLESS INVITED. We, on the other hand, have lots of shade but a large open area for people to congregate, have a drink or a nosh, relax, and enjoy themselves. It is sad to realize there are people out there who think that our campmates or, more pointedly, myself are assholes. (One particular 3playan who lurks these boards with several psudonyms comes readily to mind. Something about political issues and a certain agenda. But I digress.) But I don't think I or my campmates have ever raised our voices, put down, criticized, or admonished any visitor, regardless of their sometimes specious points of view. Hay, we're on vacation! Relax! Have a beer or glass of wine or otter pop and say hi. We intend to keep up the good work for years to come.
Thanks again for the heartfelt message. It means a lot to all of us.

Absolutely. The camps that made up BDV in 2009 were BDC&WB, Eden, Burner International, Preserved In Time, Boosh: The Canadian Splinter Squad, The Alaskans, and BRC Body & Paint. BRCB&P really only is around for one day, but can be expanded. We open up around 10 a.m. on Friday to paint the ladies for Critical Tits. We probably had over 100 people come by to get painted. If the demand was there we would have no objection to opening earlier. The nice people at Boosh, especially Luis, did the lion's share of the work.
Originally BRCB&P was a seperate camp ran by a guy named Zane. Well Zane hasn't been back for a few years (though we hope he will be this year) and we were just sort of keeping his creation warm until he returns. If you would like to be part of that camp within BDV, we would be happy to have you. We could use a few more experienced artisans.
