Come to think of it, if memory serves me correct, 3playa was created for those to get away from me on eplaya.

All of the boards seem to have lost their luster it seems. I guess it's a natural progression of some kind. The boards don't reflect the real life encounters for sure. If Burning Man was like the electronic forms of it, I probably never would have gone. My real life interactions are so very very different. So Ray, how about that drink sometime? I can chant Patanjali's Yoga Sutras to you.... think about it. And my offer to teach you how to have fun shooting Fishy still stands, as long as you promise not to shoot me.

I can't believe that after all this time you finally have the balls to admit to your participation in almost wrecking this board. 3playa was created in response to you almost single-handedly bringing the board to its knees with your 1000+ insipid, interruptive, posts you spammed in a few weeks time.

Rather than argue that point one need only check to verify the accusation. The ensuing discussion (and sense of disgust) that's also part of the record is there for the reading as well.

Well that wasn't the only reason 3playa was created. As I also seem to remember, those that went to 3playa were also mad at Technopatra and Spanky for changing eplaya to the format it is today. The other also reason was that Badger did not like the "bar" thread.

Just thought of something, if things were left up to Badger, eplaya would be like 3playa and there would be no "Bar Thread".

The East Bay (not Berzerk or OakTown odd enough) scares me.

after all the years its still the most disgruntled that mention 3playa here, while masking some sense of hostility with humor. i suppose its good that more can joke about it, especially considering the consequences. but its still a bit surprising to see the same discussions and comments when this board was shut down over the conflict directed in response to a single user.

and the forgotten tradgedy is the long and unpleasant work some of us put into rescuing eplaya, and putting things in place to hold it on a course of survival. but i guess that doesnt matter anymore.

Adding my $0.02 here...

1: Badger, you are incorrect. DVD's antics back in the day helped drive the creation of the 3playa, but there was a general undercurrent at the time that the core group that is the 3playa today needed their own space so as not to clutter up the Burning Man board with their private discussions. That fact is reinforced by the fact that Harriet also created a kick ass alternative space...and people went over there....the need was real, and when the alternatives became reality people jumped. It was a combination of things that lead to the 3playa's creation and not just the antics of one person...even though he did annoy a lot of people at the time.

1a: A lot of people were also disgusted at my antics and issues back then. It's not fair for DVD to bear the brunt of this when a good chunk of blame needs to be dropped right here on me. As time has passed I've learned things, changed, grew as a person, yadda yadda, and I realize that I was an ass in those days and made people miserable. I have since apologized for it, and I'm doing so again now. I'm sorry for being a whiny, attention seeking, pain in the fucking ass. So that being said...pile it on and let's deal with it and move on. But distribute the blame fairly...if the tables were turned you would likely feel it's the right thing to do just as I do right now.

2: Spectabillis. You are an unsung hero who helped bring the eplaya back from the brink. And you never did get recognized for that work. I know I appreciate it..and I'll say it again. Thank you! Now...that was several years back...and today is November 10th, 2009. Notice the 2009. Many of us, myself included need to quit dredging up all this past crap and we need to find some way to move forward. I don't know if it's possible, but by God I'm trying. I've tried by apologizing. I've tried by admitting I was a lying, attention seeking whore and asking for forgiveness. But that's just me...what will it take for the rest of you to bury the hatchets and move on? Honestly...can we do it? I think it's worth trying.

thank you k, i appreciate that.

i still hold hope eply can rebuild itself to something that rivals the early days even before i jumped in, but thats a longer discussion. putting the past behind might help, but in all honesty i dont know it would matter all that much - all things considered. the potential definately still lingers about, but whats needed to manifest action from passion... whatever that is, i dont sense it.

so how about a party of sorts? For those unable to attend, I will be happy to set up an interactive streaming cam on Skype or justin.tv or something.
If enough people show interest, I will make some calls. Maybe Chicken John will host it. He and I put together a big tribe party a while back. We can do it again. And yes Billis, lots of thanks to you. I am a big fan of Harriet's and I never knew she set up another board...oh well. Kinetic you are a special guy too. And I am capable of forgiving Badger, I know he has a lot of loose quarks flying around inside his head. So what dya all say ha hah?

i came up with a realistic world domination strategy, but its capital intensive and can only be implemented by an industrialized country. came up with another one, but communication regulations and the logistics of the largest media companies make it unrealistic. so i scaled back, and back, and back... until i am left with a couple of startup ideas and perhaps some local biz-politico volunteer work.

otherwise its the same stuff i usually do

btw, the restraining order comment was supposed to be a joke

If I was closer, I'd be happy to join in with you, cowboyangel and DVDburner. You'll have to stream it if you want us far away types to participate. :D

It would be the best way and a lot more fun.

Okay, DVDBurner, you figure out a date and tell us the technology we need and we'll be there. Sounds like fun. How can we spice it up a bit? Can we have an online Santarchy or some other such theme? Will far away people be able to join via webcam?

Oh and somebody needs to give a link here to 3playa so us newbies can decide if we want to peek behind that curtain.

Interesting place. I just read - didn't post. Don't think I could keep up to the volume. We are overwhelmed with places to check into every day and I don't think I can manage another one. And to be honest, I don't think I can learn another system right now.

I'm up to my eyeballs with trying to learn that stupid Second Life thing. Guess I'm getting old or long in the tooth or something. Another system just pisses me off more than it actually interests me. :(
