Oh no, another newb

Post by Scurdog » Tue Nov 17, 2009 5:11 pm

 Well hello to all! If it wasn't for loosing my job, wife wanting a divorce, house going into foreclosure, having to move out of Denver (THANK GOD!) I would have never met the person that lit a fire under my ass about burning man & going to the grave not knowing what I was missing out on.
Can't think of a better way to start off a new chapter in my life!!

I've been all over the website/links reading & rereading about everything & my list of ideas & things to do just keep getting longer & longer!! That's a good thing right? So much to do, so little time.

Can any one tell me the best way to get a picture down to the 80x80/68kb size for the profile??

've done it, multiple times, too. You have to get it in your image manipulating program, photoshop or canon camera soft ware or iphoto and reduce it to that size. I can't remember how it's done, but I have figured it out and on at least two systems. They do have places where you can change the size. So if no one comes up with actual instructions, I'd say just play with it until you've thrown something across the room, then ask again.

Hi Scurdog,

Welcome to eplaya and glad you’re excited about the adventure. Sorry about the late unpleasantness for you. Such things can be very rough. Having the event to focus on helped me through a similar situation years ago and hopefully it’ll help you do the same. It’s good to have something to keep you occupied, you know.

As to the avatar, do you have Photoshop? You can resize your image with, I think, the Image Size option under the Image menu. Select “pixelsâ€

Welcome Scurdog!

After all the shit you've been through, it sounds you could REALLY use a week in the desert!

Thanks for the input for the pic down sizing, & yes I'm looking forward to a week in BRC.
Now to decide, do I take a trailer (A/C, shower, comfort) or haul the Tipi out, has a 9' liner which would be at least 10-15 degrees cooler than ambient & set up an out side shower w/evap setup & don't have to deal with grey water hauling. More decisions. :D gota luv it.

Teepee, no question about it. I highly recommend experiencing the desert in the most intimate way possible for you, especially your first year. It’s too incredible an experience not to have in my opinion. Our shower is a new garden sprayer and an small evap pond. Have a friend help you out and make it an interactive experience.

Hey, I would highly recommed going to apogaea it's COs regional and it is fantastic. It's in June and is four days of fun fun fun. You would get a chance to meet a bunch of CO burners and party your ass off. bring the tipi although flat ground is hard to find. Co has a great burner community, also keep your eyes out for burner parties near telluride, they have one inside a cave where you have to wear a construction helmet that was great last year.

curiousgnate: Thanks for the heads up on that wheres is the apogaea located at. I'm looking forward to hooking up with ether the Colo. Springs or Denver chapters when the Postal Service sends me to the Springs for 2 weeks of training.
That Telluride deal sounds like a blast, hell I have a hardhat & a safety vest to boot.

Similar events brought me to the desert last year. At the very least, it's a welcome distraction. :)
