The damage is already done Synapse. Don't worry about it.
The first time playa dust gets wet it "activates" and causes corrosion. Best to power wash the under side of you car immediately after you get back from the burn. And yes using vinegar with the wash water helps.

The road to paradise is paved with playa vehicles!
For those who have never been to Burning Man, nearly the entire road of Rt. 447 leading to Empire, Gerlach and ultimately Burning Man, is almost completely lined for 80 miles with cars that have been destroyed by the playa. These cars are abandoned after breaking down on the way out of BM. I am pretty sure the alkaline in the dust is causing the destruction of these vehicles from the inside out. Many are old art cars, but I have seen late model rentals there as well.
Maybe someday the State of Nevada with have enough money to in the budget to haul these thousands of cars, trucks and RVs off and restore 447 to its pre-BM beauty.

Despite the huge amount of abandoned cars along the 80 miles of 447, most burners leaving BM do have their playa-junk cars towed off to be scraped. What's left are the 2% from the inconsiderate people who remove the license plates and hitch hike home.
That playa can really destroy an automobile in no time!
