Just hanging around the house trying to rest because it kinda felt like I might be catching a cold or something and looking forward to a holiday of fun starting tomorrow.
It's going to be alright.

oops, looks like AntiM might not be a fan of the pumpkin pie.

How about apple pie with cute little pastry maple leaves?

Have a great holiday folks.

I'm going to have to invent a Canadian holiday for this weekend either that or go stateside visiting. I'll be drinking here in the bar all by my lonesome while you are all off gorging yourselves on the turkey feast.

UHG.

One really must limit the amount of eggnog+rum+rich food, in a less then 3 hour interval.

I knew I was tooo full last night....

YUP, so did my tummy!

I guess I'll just call that the day before Thanksgiving tribute to anorexia's everywhere.

ouch.

Do NOT drink 4, 2cup portions of eggnog....under any circumstances!

Didnt help that they were going down so easy, I think that was the Capt'n Morgans fault!

regardless. Now I have to spring back into action for good food today...oh bother.Bleeeh

hahahaaaaa...
Like thats what everyone wants to read before this festive food day....just saying...keep your rich foods balanced.

Try cruzan dark rum.

By the way, too large a meal can really kill you.
It's a blood chemistry thing along with long term factors.

Still, can't resist eggnog.
Found out pumpkin pie is even healthier than I thought though.

hell, its all the RUM's Fault!!!

Nice and buzzy, house smells devine, eggnog rich thick and ...

uhg.

Ok....NEW subject!!!!!!!

Who's actually taking on B.Friday?

I have only done Black friday once, and Im not sure it even counted, I came home after going out all night, drunk and toasted off my ass, a friend shows up as we had talked about a 199.99 digital camera on sale at 4:30am at w.world. for only 35.00! So Me my drunk ass, drunk posse and my 17 yr old went out to W.world at 4am.....in jammies! Bright colored non-matching pj's....yesterdays makeup and bloodshot still stinkin' drunk eyeballs......and sure enough, camera crew for local news interviews us!

Oh gawd, that is the second worse interview Ive ever done!
I swear the news crews search me out of crowds. And 75% of the time I look like something a extremely sick cat barfed up! whats up with that?

(its always one of those last minute "oh, ok ill go with you things....")

My all time worse was the wake of 911, old town sac., last minute personal decision. I wasnt going to go, as I had spent alot of the day, crying, looking at my kids and wondering if they would get the opportunity to grow up,to experience life, to find love, to marry, to give me beautiful grandchildren...you know, full on remorse.
Eye's all swollen up, black makeup under eyes, or should I say new pillows located under the eyes, nasty ass torn t-shirt, short shorts, ripped vans, hair in hap hazard pony tail. The girls grabbed grampa's burial flag.
So were standing out there, I cant even believe I still have water enough in my system to actually shed one tear more...let alone the thousands that are coming down my face, as I look at all the people and to my own children, we're holding grampa's flag, I turn to grab a hanky, and wham...Camera in swollen face! I couldnt even talk! answer, think, stammer...
worse, I cant believe they still PLAYED it on the news! Damn it!

So sum up and incredibly long story....
ever since our world was tipped, Ive tried to enjoy all aspects of life differently, not in a martyr way, in a wow, way!

oh GAWD black Friday. I hate it. It's like a riot and everybody wants to attend. Here's a tip, I hate it, but since you're friends... Internet sales. Shoppers can go online Thursday after midnight (check your sites,) order the black Friday specials (pay the special prices) and pick them up at their leisure on Friday. Leisure is relative, this causes a tremendous headache at our store, since we have to get in early and make sure the internet sales are pulled from the sales floor before people come and buy up the stock, which could cause poor internet people, or in person people to get very very angry. So come early to get your internet order, but you can avoid the door smashing crap. One consequence might be that if the item was low quantity on hand it could be zero on the sales floor due to internet sales. Here's where a good attitude really makes the difference. If you are willing to get the next model up you could get a nice discount. The policy where I work is no rain checks, and upsell at discount within reason, sell something to the customer, keep them happy. The shit hits the floor in pallet quantities, and it takes everyone some time to figure out where it is while hundreds of people are waving newspaper flyers in your face demanding stuff. It's madness and brings out the very worst in folks, IMHO. I was sad to see yesterday that we have some very low quantities of a few sales tool items, this does not bode well.

But TODAY, turkey is in the oven, little apt. smells like onion and celery simmering on the stove for the dressing. That smell is the holiday morning sense memory trigger. Nephews are in town, all grown up, and rather interesting to talk with, I must say. Thanksgiving is an odd holiday for our family since my Dad died on Thanksgiving morning a few years ago. We think of him and I guess it all ties in; family feels near today. I hope everyone has a great day. Thank you.

lol pinemom, i wish i had seen those! i tend to RUN when i see cameras ...

crowds drive me crazy ... when more of the family lived up north we often went to san fran for black friday, but that was for fun more than to find deals. now i can walk to a few shopping places and enjoy the hubbub without actually dealing with parking and traffic and lines ... ugh!

isn't it fun to watch the young ones grow into interesting people ... ? they start cute, then get a little obnoxious, and suddenly .... wow. and looking back, it seems to have gone so fast.

happy thanksgiving! even if it isn't thanksgiving where you are ... i still hope it's a happy day .... :D

Elorrum,

Maybe all sales staff could be equipped with Faraday Cages and belt mounted battery packs. When rioting shop-zombies get too close… *ZAP*.

“Back up, shop-zombie! You’ll get your widget when its your turn.“

The kitchen is over 80 degrees this morning. Lots of things cooking and baking. I’m mostly staying out of the way until Karine gives an order.

Yes littleflower, When I was little, I remember getting dressed up (gloves and hats) to go to the city, see the displays at Gumps, and have a nice lunch somewhere, on our best behavior. What did we call it? Oh yeah: "The Day After Thanksgiving." It was more about the atmosphere and decorations than bargains. I don't remember a frenzy, just the start of the Christmas season, which was a clear demarcation and still it seemed like jumping the gun a bit.

Nephews this year are in sync as interesting people. They have always been out of phase, either interesting, or pain in the ass. Last year we had the youngest coming home from his first year away at school. Lord, how stupid we all had gotten in such a short time. He dominated dinner conversation with his superior understanding of how the world works. (I remember feeling the same, and watching all the eye rolling as well.) You are right it happens so fast. Now I have to play with the Christmas toys (never giving that up) with my sister, and wait for the nephews to show interest again, or have their own kids to play with us.
