So Happy Thanksgiving, all. I’m very thankful for my friends and family. I’m very thankful that we have work in the shop and the house is warm. This is much more than some have and I count my blessings.
Hope your day was enjoyable and may your morrow be twice that!
Goodnight.

just a 12 hour day.
the only problem is, I was up at 6 am, had a good nights sleep.
tried to take a nap this afternoon, "never works", will finally get to bed in the morning between 10 and 11 am.
unless I feel good when I get out of here and then I will get to bed between 11 or 12.......

She does, before we had days of together. Now mine are sooo screwed up, she has been working extra at her job, so both of our days are messed up. She only had 1 day off when I was home this week, shit we have only had 2 days off together this month.
Idaho sucked, the only good part was I got to drink the kid under the table 2 nights in a row. I think it suprised him, because he pratices a LOT !!!!!

She is an cook in Fallon, she has cooked all her life, she really enjoys it most of the time.
MMMmmmmm, while I do maybe more then my share on the playa, I bet I do a lot less off the playa them you would think. Normally I don't drink at home. Only drink up here if I am working days, just because it's DARK outside and nothing else to do. I will go weeks with out even a single beer, or anything else.
It was a cooling water chemisty class, old stuff for me, to boring for the kid, for him to get much out of it. Not really sure he understands most of it either. He knows the tests, and the numbers, not sure if he understands the interactions though.

Nice to have work you enjoy. I did restaurant cooking for awhile when I needed three part time jobs to make one full time enough to live off.goathead wrote:She is an cook in Fallon, she has cooked all her life, she really enjoys it most of the time.
Yeah, I think that when we're in the eplaya bar there's a perception that we drink more than we actually do. It's mostly virtual for me. Except I did love that homebrew on the playa. Never had anything like it before. Yummmm.MMMmmmmm, while I do maybe more then my share on the playa, I bet I do a lot less off the playa them you would think. Normally I don't drink at home. Isn't it strange that companies require training but they can't make it relevant or interesting enough for anybody to get anything out of it?It was a cooling water chemisty class, old stuff for me, to boring for the kid, for him to get much out of it. In fact I have 10 gallons in a couple fermeters now that I need to keg for my sweetie. Should have done that this week, but I didn't even think about them till now. They will probably last us till next BM.
It was interesting to me, the man giving the class is an old chem eng who has been around a long time. Listening to some of the different situations he has had to work around or though was interesting for me, I think it just all went over the kids head though. But then again I have had some basic chem and physics so I understand some of it. I doubt this kid has anything like that.

Someday I'll learn how to do that home brew thing. It sounds fascinating.
Too bad more education isn't required. The young fella is missing out on having the basics to be able to comprehend the science behind the job you do. I suspect you're very good at what you do because you do understand what's actually going on. What will happen to a place like that when all the knowledge leaves when you retire? Not that this should be your concern but it should be society's concern to better educate people so they can work safely in a place.

Hopefully they will get it someday sort of, it's all cause and effect for the most part. Realizing if you change something other things are going to change also. Either that or the other old operator and I will just beat the shit out of them......
Kind of strange, we have two of us with over 40 years between us doing this and three kids with less then 2 years total now. There are times we just let them bury themselves......

A few projects on paper right now, one is drilling, they have one well so far. For what they have planned they need a lot more though.
The others have yet to start drilling. One project just started up a new plant, but I know operators working for them and have no desire to put up with their manager. Know a couple of ops who have already left them.
At least at my nightmare here we have kept our sense of humor, such as it may be.
it is just kind of special.....

Good morning gyre. Sounds interesting. I need work very badly right now and there is nothing around here. I've been searching diligently since the first of October.
Could I be a gold miner? I wonder.
Good thing you know everyone in your industry Goathead. You'll be able to pick the next best spot to jump to, if that place becomes unbearable.

Weel, would you look at this, I wonder if it even works. A refrigerator with a built in espresso machine. Just looks cold I think... not like a steamy coffee maker. I'll have a cup of your coffee, Deb, and the pumpkin treats look nice, thanks.
I don't have to go to be at work until 9:00 today! yay. This means I get to miss the serial shop zombies for black friday. I just get to deal with the disgruntled, "how could you be out of this, it's in your ad" folks. It may even be fun.
Had a great Thanksgiving. My sister and I sat in the living room and played single songs from records for hours. Started with bubble gum pop, her first records... it was fun and awful! Remember Bobby Sherman? Got halfway through "Little Woman" and took the needle off. Got into better stuff pretty quickly. We both remarked that Thanksgiving hadn't changed much in 40 years. We were still off listening to records! The nephews would wander through from time to time and actually like what we had on. I forgot that handling records was such a pleasure. I got rid of all of mine in a move years ago, dang. There's so much stuff to look at as well. Posters even! Now that the video game is not the center of the living room, we found the record player and had a blast.
