Some Questions for those crazy burners out there.

Post by Avatre the New Dawn » Wed Dec 02, 2009 11:18 am

I'm currently doing a statistics project and I wanted to ask Burners like us some questions to see if there is a relationship between age and gender and who goes to the Playa. If you would please answer these, I would greatly appriciate it. Thanks!

1) What was your age during the last Burn?

2) What is your gender?

3) How much money did you spend your last trip "home"?

4) Do you plan to return next year?

there is a lot of demographic info, including answers to all of these queries, for each year, from the Black Rock City Census...

Tell me more about your statistics project.

1) Is this something that you are doing for a school/college project?

2) How many times have you attended the Burning Man Festival?

3) Will you be attending in 2010?

4) Are you with an organized theme camp or do you camp on your own?

5) What was the first year that you made it "home"?

Your answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

1) What was your age during the last Burn? Does that mean during the last one I attended?

2) What was your gender during the last burn? Primarily male.

3) How much money did you spend your last trip "home"? About 6 or 7 thousand dollars, due to a catastrophic issue along the way. Fuck.

4) Do you plan to return next year? That depends on how many people buy masonry stone or granite counter tops between now and then!

I'm thinking that clinically crazy burners are not a good sample group for meaningful statistics.

3) How much money did you spend your last trip "home"? Less than a grand.

4) Do you plan to return next year?
Fuck Yeah! Uh, I mean, that depends, you aren't going to be there asking a bunch of questions are you? How many drinks have you had this year? How many times have you been propositioned by a member of the same sex? etc...

Wow! Thanks guys! I've got now all of ... 1...2...3...4...5? 6 answers? Well just to answer some of your questions...
I've attended Burning Man now a grand total of once, but I've gone to Fourth of JuPlaya now three times. I most definately will be returning next year (to both) and I was with an organized camp. I was with Fire Conclave at 5:30 and Esplanade, which was right next to BMIR, the Ranger Station and DMV.

Haha no, I guess crazy burners are not a great demographic because they always find some random why to twist your questions like the douche bags on Tribe. There most certainly are more than one type of burner, and yes. Yes I laugh everytime because my friends' truck has four high pressure propane cannons that really go BOOM.

Thanks!

I;m sure the three or four members of tribe upthread greatly appreciate being called "douchebags."

I don't take offense. I am a Douchebag on Tribe, here I'm a fluffy kitten, or a pretty princess depending on my mood.

Just curious, are you going to include a chapter in your report on sampling biases in statistical projects?

but to be nice;

1) What was your age during the last Burn? 46

2) What is your gender? Male

3) How much money did you spend your last trip "home"? about $2500 (plus $1500 to buy and refurb a camper that will be used for at least a few more years hopefully)

4) Do you plan to return next year? Don't know yet, but will if I can afford it

Methinks this poll is skewed towards those mostly mature folks that have been laid off from work, unemployed and have time to read and post here....

just how loud is your art ?

does it cause hearing loss?

does it cook bacon?

how bright is it?

does it cause people to see spots with their eyes closed?

how often does LEO visit you or your art?
