Actually, the location they are talking about is only technically Michigan. The UP is physically connected to Wisconsin, not Michigan. The concerns about placing a nuclear waste site in the UP are that water might flow through the rocks and leech the waste into drinking water, or at least elsewhere where it shouldn't be. (Actually, the Yucca Mountain site reportedly will be full in only a year or two, so the UP site might be developed anyway. Nuclear waste was a big topic on WORT earlier in the year since Bush & Friends are trying to get Wisconsin to build more nuclear power plants.)foolish.. Far better to place it in Michigan on the giant craton that can't have an earth quake...
But, Michigan has population,, congressmen, clout. No chance of doing the right thing and burying the stuff there. It will come to cloutless Nevada, same with burning man. It is in the Black Rock 'cause California won't have it and has the clout to prevent it.
So, the BJ was taking place within sight of law enforcement? Then your problem is with the law enforcement, not with Burning Man. The situation is closer to saying that something should be outlawed which is already illegal, than it is to outlawing something against which there are no laws. (Hm, for all we know it WAS a police officer getting the BJ, not a BM attendee!
Ah, so Santa Maria ribs are the kind without sauce! I recall someone from Texas mentioning how out west they made ribs without sauce and it always shocked us mid-West types! (Of course, I got him to shut up about how spicey Texas food is when he found out that I have eaten jerked chicken made by a genuine Jamaican... and that the Jamacan warned me about food from India....)
Ah crud-- my ISP just logged me off! I have no idea whether I can get this sent out or not. (Oh well, it is probably a sign that I should be doing more with my day off than sleeping and browsing the internet....)
