Bashing a Christian unabashedly.

Post by oneeyeddick » Wed Dec 09, 2009 6:05 am

If one come to this forum, wantonly telling us that our "evil ways" are going to make us burn in hell straight from the get-go, shouldn't he/she be fair game ?

Censorship doesn't play well here, although it has worked for the christians plenty in the past.

Donna Martix was a bunch of fun, there is no reason to stop the children from poking the lion, if the lion seems to enjoy it .

I don't see how a "Christian" coming here saying silly things we don't like would be different from any other n00b.

I wouldn't "bash" them solely because of their faith, but I would respond like in kind - where is this thread?

Christians don't all suck, you know.

True that, there are some fabulous ones here already.

There are some OK Satanists here also, for that matter, they are just usually not as "informed" as the educated christians when it comes to faith and ways to defend thier own.

I agree, also, with that, OED.

it's to bad, anyone has to "defend" their beliefs......after all, they are theirs, and, well.........now, defending the actions they take, based on their beliefs......that's fair game, to me.......but, not the beliefs themselves.

I may not agree with what someone believes, but, that doesn't make them automatically a bad person. It's the actions that bring clarity to them as individuals.

I value my friendships with people greater than my own distaste for organized religion, so I only bash the way-out wacko types regardless of which particular faith to which they subscribe... and they're always such morons that it's boring because it's too easy. But when a fire-and-brimstone, cross wielding, you're-goin'-to-hell-if-you-don't-do-it-my-way christian comes along, hell yeah bash away!
I respect anyone's right to believe and do as they please, but the minute they start requiring others to do the same, it's on!

hate him?
I can see chuckle at him..........hell, who knows, maybe he just posted that to "stir it up"............

sometimes, I use the image, of my misinformed friends, as new born puppies........cut and cuddly, and, they'll see reality, at a point, when their eyes open........
Until then, they happily nurse and shit and their mom cleans it all up for them...........

I talked to Dork ... there was some wonkiness with this user. He decided to stem the wonkiness before it was going to infect and disrupt the board, at my suggestion. Yes, it comes off as censorship, and no, the mods don't always inform the board before decisions are made. Not a democracy, and yeah, arbitrary. Had it been a run of the mill You're Going to Burn and Not in a Good Way guy, we probably would have left it alone.

i rather thought that guy was one of those troll types that just show up to annoy people, and maybe cause problems .... he probably also likes to go to christian sites and tell them they're all stupid and ignorant .... just to get everyone excited....

but it usually provides the opportunity for some good snark around here...!

Yes it was me - I was in no mood to try and reason with a troll. If I believed for a second that he was really speaking up for his faith and trying to make some point I wouldn't have done anything. If it hadn't been a brand new user with no substantive posts I would have handled it differently.

I saw no meaningful content in his post - only bashing of burners, homosexuals, and jews. Blatant trolling and nothing else.

We're here for Burning Man. If someone comes in and tries to insult that, then they should expect us to defend what we love.

I can live with burner bashing... every eplayan can pretty much defend themselves. Yeah, it was the rest of the hatred that tipped the scales and set off my Oh Crap radar.

Thanks to both mods for clarifying why the OP's thread was pulled, I thought my last statement was the reason, and dammitt, I felt bad about it.

I am sad to see him go, regardless, as I still have a lot of Jesus angst built up, and a plethora of favorite sites to pull interesting bible facts from.

Where is ring-o-fire when we need him ?
