hahahha Littleflower! Ive done it so many times, and funnier, sometimes it would be a random pic...not really even pertaining to the last post, and the bar would go dead for like 3 days...Whoopsie!
Woke my usual way for the last 3 days...Coughing the ribs out of my body!
Oh man....

Yes the crust is tasty. Gnarly I guess was my word more for the shape of it. If your hands were covered in tin dust or whatever, it might not be so tasty. I'll admit I saw this explanation on a Rick Steve's episode. Certainly there's the fact that this is a perfect way to eat a stew type food without a plate and fork. Somebody had a flash of brilliance with this item.theCryptofishist wrote:A) The crust is tasty, not gnarly.Elorrum wrote:Not sure if this is the true reason, but it makes sense. The miners had toxic stuff on their hands, so the gnarly crust on the pasty served as a disposable handle.
B) Look up "trencherman." Would not be surprised if that was a factor. Do we know miners could afford forks and plates and lunchpails?

*wanders in, makes coffee*
Dang PM........be careful with your delicate self........those coughs sound tough.
have you tried "tee tree" oil on your upper lip, to breathe? It is quite antibiotic and open passages. Like Camphor or Eucalyptus or menthol.....and and all......it might be strong for your lip, so, don't burn yourself.
maybe sprinkled on your pillow or tshirt.
also, you can make "thieves blend" oil and inhale that. It is quite hot, so, not for your lip. But, in the air, as strong as you can stand...........
Elorrum:
in our area, which was the center of the "Gold Country" for Ca, pasties are quite popular, as well. I've always been told, as you state, it was a convenient way to eat that sort of meal, stayed warmer, longer, and no need for tools........
well
it's Saturday morning............

Mornin(bout time ya'll woke up, I was bored!)
But I suppose still in awkward morning sleepiness, I didnt put the coffee on???whoopsie!
Luckily the sinus congestion is gone, its all the junk that settled during the sinus cold.
I think its just been so cold, and our heater is damn near always on....dries the air out.
I dont know where the hell I put the humidifiers???
I just wish my energy level would come back up!
and yes...its still snowing!!!!!
I would say (guessing as I havent gone outside) another 3-6 inchs?
I may be drinking the "barenjager" tonight...honey for my throat and chest!

well,
you can humidify and help your lungs at the same time, PM.
put a pot of water on your stove to boil, and, put any or all of the above essential oils in.....it'll smell the house up lovely, help kill airborne germs, and, clear everyones lungs and sinuses. IMHO, that is, it works here for me......Thieves blend is the most anti-biotic.....but, you gotta make it. Google has several recipes. Mostly clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus, lemon, rosemary. I add Oregano and camphor, but, that's just the mad chemist in me....also tee tree.

Morning, all
We have more rain today and forecast for tomorrow as well, so no tennis this weekend. I guess that is far less of a problem than having to dig out of 10 feet of snow.
Ygmir, your humidifying idea is a good one. PM, try it, you'll like it!
Pass the coffee, I've got the OJ for all
Have a good weekend

Hey, YG, never had biscuit on a stick. Looks good, I'll put on the coffee this morning.
Raining cats & dogs here too. Just stepped into a poodle.
I thought that you guys would be getting tons of snow, but I guess you're not up high enough.
Spent a rainy yesterday afternoon at the Palace of the Legion of Honor Museum and was, as usual, blown away by the Rodin sculptures. Fine collectiion! Nice way to spend an afternoon. Then to the New Way Market (Chinese) on Clement St and bought some huge Cherry Stone Clams. Eat 'em raw and what a treat. First time I saw them in a market here in the west. A bit of Dim Sum for dinner and then watched the Godfather. Great flick as good today as the day it first came out in 1975 or so.
Have a great Sunday, one and all!
