contribution idea

Post by g-manmet » Mon Dec 14, 2009 7:54 pm

hi all,

I'm new to Burning Man, and have just started learning about it today. Right away, it caught my interested and the number one thing that's on my mind, above food, shelter, etc. is what i would contribute. im afraid visually, im not much of an artist which is what seems to be emphasized in this festival, but i do have the ability to play music quite well. i was thinking i could bring an extremely small drum set and play with brushes while my friend's on an acoustic guitar. we'd also be mindful about those around us. i was just wondering if this is a good idea or not? im just trying to look for a way to help out the atmosphere.

Welcome. The more drummers the better.
Read up on the first timers guide and watch for tickets to go on sale on January 13th.

I think this is a great idea.

And yes, read the First-timer's guide over and then over again. And hang out here some too. Get to know people.

The best thing you can do to contribute is to scratch-build a steam engine!

Welcome, G-manmet!

I like your idea a lot. In my personal opinion, Burning Man has a bit more artificial music than necessary, and not quite enough of the real stuff.

If I could carry a tune myself, I'd try to be a "strolling minstrel" in Black Rock City.

Now, off to the main BM web site and the Survival Guide you go, and then we'll see you On The Playa!

How about a giant gong? You can hammer on it as the sun is coming up. :D

Great idea. You could put the drums on wheels or a cart and play anywhere.

There was a cool drum camp, at Esplanade and what? 10:00? Just tons of drums for your banging amusement.

Wow, live music. It might even be infectious and you could end up a combo.
