The great humanitarian Dr. Albert Schweitzer (who received the Nobel Peace Price for running hospitals in Africa long before anyone had heard of Mother Theresa) is supposed to have once written a letter with his left hand so as to avoid disturbing the cat that was sleeping on his right arm.
So you are in good company, Dr. Harley.
That said, methinks that gently moving the cat to your lap or an other comfortable sleeping location would be a perfectly agreeable solution -- to cats and humans alike in most of the known world.

The great DR is correct.. You do not disturb the napping cat..

the only reason yer cats act that way is because you let them. People feel like they cant be rough in disciplining a cat, that's how they get you then they just start walking all over you because they know you can.
You know how people hate it when a child's parents are nowhere around as the kid is running rampant thru a store? ya, that's yer cat.

Damn CAT
It's not that I mind him getting me up the same time each morning.. It's how.. I call it a bladder dance.. Where he took dance lesions I don't know.. He can bring his full weight on each paw.. Then as a final and just as I'm reaching for a WoMD.. My stomach is used for a recoil base.. He rockets off into the air into his cloking device..

I hope Oide was calling a cab, he obviously drank way too much to be driving!AntiM wrote:They're so cute when they're small...
Then they grow up and run your phone bills sky high!!!
That's Oide (oy-day), which is Japanese for "Come here".

You can train a cat to let you move them.
After awhile they don't even wake up.
I let my cat leap onto my chest once.
He decided it was okay and started doing it with no warning.
And hes a good sized cat too.
It can be very startling and it takes a real effort to not react.
Shrieking and waving your arms and maybe flinging the cat is almost guaranteed to get a negative reaction.
And you don't really want to encourage those claws to come out.
I had trained him to leap with no claws out.
Probably very unnatural for a cat.
That was Stupid Cat.
But he was good at being a cat.

At this moment I'm sitting on the edge of the "computer chair" because Como, our Longhair Orange Tabby forced his way between my fat ass and the backrest.
I'm not going to deny Mr Como his beauty rest.
We even have a sign above our bed "A sleeping cat is a good excuse NOT to make the bed."
Now he's changing positions to watch Little Gizmo (9months old) stare at a lazer light thats not even on.
