Hiway 20 east, from Grass Valley to Penn Valley, is another downhill 4 lane streach that is watched carefully. I got a ticket there in '91 in my brand new Geo Metro coasting downhill. New car was super quiet and slippery in the wind.

Since we are comparing tickets here's mine. In 2003 while returning from Las Vegas on Hwy 15 I decided to open it up a little. My radar detector went off but by the time I slowed down it was too late. After waiting a couple weeks and not hearing from the court I contacted them. I was more worried about having to take time off from work and also having my wife take time off. I just knew they were going to yank my license so she would have to have to go down to Barstow with me so she could drive home. I told them there was no contest and that yes I was guilty - could you just give me a fine so I can pay it and not have to go to court. They did. It cost me $850 but I was able to keep my license. How fast was I going? 133mph in a 65mph zone. By all rights I should have been arrested, license yanked and car impounded. For some reason the CHP officer was more interested in my car and instead of reckless drivng he wrote me up for driving over 100mph. Big difference between the two. BTW - I sold the car within a couple month, bought a Jeep and haven't received a ticket since. Slipping up - didn't realize this was the Fuck thread - FUCK!

you were lucky ... !

i got a ticket in LA in 2003 or 2004 or so .... i was going 53 in a 35 zone - it was around 6:30am, on a 6 lane road where the flow of traffic was around 50, i was going just a little faster. the ticket was $987 ... or $325 if i went to traffic school (which, of course, i did.)

i guess it makes a big difference where you get nailed. my sister had a friend who got popped for going, i think, 70 on the road to dulles airport in virginia .... that ticket was $2,000. and 70 is not exactly outrageously fast for that road, which is basically a freeway.

oh, and fuck.

In my case I had spent the weekend running on the Las Vegas Speedway. Instead of towing the car down for the weekend a buddy and I drove it down. The girls flew down to meet us. I think the CHP officer was really interested in the car but then he wasn't the one that determined the fine; it was the judge in Barstow. To this day I think I was fucking lucky and got off real cheap - and was able to keep my license. The funny thing was that my wife had told me she wanted me to quit racing when I hit 60. Something about keeping me safe at home. I had turned 60 six months prior but had already sent in entry fees for that weekend. What a way to "retire" from racing :-)

Ygmir, thanks for noticing the typo. It should have read "20, west of Grass" instead of 20 east, of Grass". You really are from Nevada County, California, aren't you...oh, and Fuck.

Fuck, my dog dumped over the neighbor's trashcan to get some tamales and tortillas. I spent close to a half-hour picking everything up. It was my fault for letting her out the door off-leash to go pee. I'll need to go over this evening with a peace offering and apologize. She's usually well behaved so I guess she could not resist those home-made tamales. Fuck. :(

some of us don't get fucking cell reception at home, so, have to use our landlines from there.....and, a cell number in "bum fuck Florida", incurs long distance charges, even thought they're here in CA......
