Thank fucking Gawd for knowing people.

Found a shop that will bench-rebuild my transmission for ~1500. I was getting pretty damned nervous with the initial estimates I was gathering yesterday.

F'in gremlins. Car battery dead, cold weather zapped it, on trickle charger now. Got car started eventually, it was out of gas too. I think I've got a siphon thief in the neighborhood. Took my soda cans to the recycle shed, got a couple of bucks then went to the gas station to fill up a 2 1/2 gal. gas can. Brought back the can on foot, hooked up my booster battery and the car cranked right up. Drove it around the park, noticed the homeless gleaning the blue recycle containers...I'd rather see the poor get the cans rather than the garbage corporation. I saw a microwave set on the curb for tomorrows collection, I suppose post-christmas dumpster divers are out and about. I didn't need it, so I let it be.

I'm thinking of driving down tonight to park in the parking lot of the rehab office so that I don't miss my 9 am appointment tomorrow...I've got a couple of gallons of gas in the car so I can go about 100 miles...I'm not sure my car will start in the cold morning, but it starts right now when it's warm. I'll wait a few hours to charge my battery and drive down when it gets dark.

Yay, car camping opportunity tonight.

I have to buy four fucking batteries.
All either stolen or gone bad.
From extras to none.
I have to have two strong ones for the box truck whether I buy it or rent it.
And I have to get the van going.
Fuck.

4L60e for a GMC Yukon Denali. Apparently this is a very common problem, which to me = design and/or inferior parts problem.

Chalk one up for shitty GM quality.

Don't rebuild it without finding someone that can alleviate the weaknesses.
Check with the common race rebuilders.

I can't remember the name, but I found a place in Denver, I think, that was excellent at curing problems in all brands and very reasonable.
Could have been somewhere in california.
They had a machined lockup torque converter rated for towing.
That wasn't cheap, as they were making them from billet at the time.
They were drag racing diesel trucks using the lockup to prove the strength.
I would try to find them, if I were you.
The most basic thing they do is making lubrication continue at idle.

And definitely add a trans cooler if you aren't using one.
All fuel injected vehicles with auto trans need a cooler, due to the higher running temps of the engine.

TCI seems good.

The curse of living at 6000 ft of altitude. Buy a can of baby formula. Bring it home, set it on the counter and pop the metal can lid. Pop! POOF! Fucking baby formula goes EVERYWHERE making one hell of a fucking mess. The pressure difference makes opening every can an adventure since it was packaged at a lower altitude. It's one of the few negatives to living in such a beautiful place though.

On a good note the resulting cloud of formula made everyone in the house laugh as I got fucking covered!

HAAAHAAAA, fucking sorry KV I didnt mean to laff so loud, I so remember that!!!!!! I used to live at 6400 Tahoe when my first was born.

trick: take a straight pin(safety pin) and poke 2 very very small holes...one slowly on one side 1.5 inches away from edge....and slowly same on other edge...walk away for a couple minutes!

let it seep slowly!

Fuck, I remember cleaning off the counter with anti-bacterial 'cause that shits expensive!
Then another Tahoe mom turned me onto it!

Pinemom, THANK YOU for the tip. I've been fucking covered twice now despite trying to prevent it from happening. That stuff is about $17 per can and I'd prefer to keep the spillage to a minimum. Now nobody else will open the cans, I get stuck doing it even if it's 4 am...I get woke up just to open the cans. It's not the type of wakeup one wants, let me tell ya.

In another rant: To a particular Kansas state agency: Is it possible to go any fucking slower? Even contacting the Kansas Governors office does nothing to speed things up. What's it going to fucking take, email blitzing every fucking investigative news team that covers the State along with blitzing the KS state legislators and another blitz of various members of Congress? My patience is gone, my give a damn is fucking busted, now I want some motherfucking heads on a platter and I will fucking have them or make someone's life so fucking miserable they'll be praying to God for fucking relief.

I've wrote a lot of crap on the eplaya over the years but the above fuck rant is as serious as serious gets. The law will be followed and if they can't fucking do it we will get someone in there who fucking can. And oh yeah, lawsuits cost under $100 to file. As pissed off as I am, I'm tempted to drive to Topeka and file a motherfucking suit just to pull some fucking chains. Compliance motherfuckers, get off your fucking asses and do what the law says you have to fucking do.
