Lawyers for Burners...can anyone help???

Post by sktELEMENT » Mon Dec 28, 2009 5:13 pm

Hello I got into some trouble with the BLM, and was hoping someone could help me. I have contacted Lawyers for Burners through their website, but I fear it is not active. Does anyone know who I can contact about this directly through telephone or e-mail? Please help me if you can. I am scared for my future.

Thank You.

did you just get into the trouble, or, did it happen at the burn and you're just now addressing it?

Not that that matters, just curious........

There is a thread, or more, here, dealing with exactly your question.
I'm sorry, I can't remember the name of the thread, but, I'm sure a search, or someone with a better memory than mine, can steer you.

good luck

Without divulging any sensative information, can you give details of the troubles? We may be able to offer help if you can open up a bit.
Again, don't tell anything that may cause you harm.

You could try contacting burning man and see if they have other contact info.

Definitely look for the other threads.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you have a lot to fear. Since we don't know your charge, its hard to tell you where to go...if its a serious charge, get a serious lawyer. Mine didn't know shit about assault weapons. Make sure they are knowledgable of your situation.. cost is a tiny factor, when you're freedom's at stake. Keep in mind, if you go up against some sort of DA...I know shit, about law, let alone federal law...Don't expect them to be kind. Their job is to get convictions. Be open about your charges...that may show some kind of remorse.
anything worth doing is worth overdoing..

This guy was part of my camp unfortunately. Put us on the radar. He and his posse have been expelled perminently. Idiot bragged about his encounter. Good riddance.

Well Doc, I would think with your stellar rep and the steps you took to rectify this problem will in no way harm your relationship with the BMORG. Of course, you may have to cater them a fine meal of Filet Mignon and Jumbo Maine Lobster served with your finest Vino :D but as I understand it you were planning on doing that for the next MnG anyway, right?
Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

This is the guy who showed up here mostly asking what bands were gonna be playing at Burning Man, at what times on which stages.
He had the wrong impression of the whole thing from the start:
sktELEMENT wrote:But it IS fucking Woodstock! It is the Woodstock of our day...except in reality Woodstock ended up being free! A financial failure, but a Legend even more so!
He gave the impression he thought it was a show for him to go watch... But I guess he ended up "participating" somehow, unfortunately!

Why not just contact the state BAR association wherever you are being tried and ask for a half dozen names of lawyers that specialize in the type of case you got yourself entagled with?

Then research the cases these lawyers represented and see if you can find the best one for your needs.

Alternatively, go to the court document finder for the principality that will process your case and research similar charges. Find the lawyer that won the most cases.

Couple days at the library can pay massive dividend here.

Bar associations can be quite useless for this.
Ask attorneys, clerks, etc.

I think sktELEMENT has been hauled off to the slammer to make some new friends. He asked for help and then won't respond. NICE!

Doc's too smart to post that in a public forum. You'll have to sidle up to him at the meet'n'greet, or maybe to a less discrete member of the camp.

Ygmir, tomorrow is my birthday. You know how to get hold of me off of this forum. Give me a buzz in the morning and I'll fill you in. I don't think it is appropriate to publicly announce that sort of thing.

You can reduce it to the basic elements without the gory details.

There is no room at Burning Man for potty mouths. He should be prosecuted to the full extend of the law, and then left to rot in jail!

Happy Birthday. A buzz in the morning is a fine way to start the day.
