Dark City
Just wanted to post a good movie to watch regarding 'Metropolis'...
If you haven't seen it, it has Keifer Sutherland and is kinda cheesy, but it's a great movie about a Metropolis, in a sense.

I've been waiting for what seems remarkably like forever for someone to start a movie or music thematic thread. I felt like it would be so very selfish of me to do it, after all, I did start the text thread.
And then when it finally happens, it's for a single movie.
Other movies that might fit the theme and variations: Blade Runner, Metropolis. Tokyo is definitely a player in the Godzilla movies. Chinatown?

The movie is 'Dark City'
It centers around the story of these 'strangers' (alien types) who try and discover the human soul by shifting the 'metropolis' around everynight at midnight. They change people's lives, memories, physical structures, etc. Everything freezes at midnight and they go to work, moving bodies to new homes and injecting them with new memories of a made up life in order to study.
The new structures literally erupt out of the ground or morph from a low-income 1-bedroom flat to a massive, marbled grand entrance to a mansion.
It's interesting for a B-movie type casting.

When watching Dark City, it's a good idea to turn up the brightness on your TV...
There are a lot of parallels between the Matrix and Dark City, seen it a few times now, it's hardly a "B" type movie, with Jennifer Connelly,William Hurt, and Kiefer Sutherland in it.
Here is a free link, if you wanna watch it.

With the crap that Hollywood pumps out, this is probably a good thing for him, with 24 being the exception, of course(hehe).75 movies and 195 episodes of 24=fat cash, regardless.
I thought Mirrors and Flatlinerswas pretty good, along with Monsters -v-Aliens(voiceover).

I can't believe nobody has talked about The Matrix. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes. It's a fake metropolis. It only exists in your mind.

The anime "Blame!", while odd, is definitely neat in concept for a metropolis. Mankind built machinery that would build buildings for them...and the machines never stopped. They just kept on building until humans couldn't find each other amidst the maze-like city. hundreds and hundreds of stories high, and as a machine reached an older already built part it would tear it apart and rebuild it, so if you ventured out...you were never sure if you could get home the same way...if at all.
An art project that popped up bigger each night like that would be neat.
Or changed, like in dark city.

The movie is not that great but the lead played by Bai Ling is smokin hot. If you suspend your disbelief at the incredibly low budget crappy CGI, the metropolis concept is quite strong. Especially the flying pirate airship things, those are cool.

Sky Blue might also be a good one to watch, here a link to the trailer if you wanna take a peek:
@trystanthegypsy I saw that film, the story was weak as piss, but the scenery was brilliant.

I'm a strange person.
But I know one day I'm going to change the world.
I'll start a movement and the only way to move will be with me.
You'll have never seen anything like this before.
