Looking for Folks interested in joining a Live Sound Camp...

Post by The Chinese » Thu Jan 07, 2010 11:53 am

Transmorphagon has been a 5 year veteran camp that brings a Live music stage to the Playa. Last year we were at Esplanade & 3:00. We are looking to expand our interactivity by adding many more acts & different types of music, performance, etc. But to do this we need help in the form of people who can run sound, help setup bands, etc.

We have a house band that performs, some DJ's, and generally have a lot of fun. The sound system ain't bad either, it's all EAW. We have a 12'x 24' stage that we bring out.

It's a killer camp with killer vibe and fun people!

Let me know if you might be interested ;)

Sleep? What's that?

It's pretty noisy out on Esplanade, but a lot of fun. I use a pair of earplugs and can get that 4-6 hours in.

Hey GALAXO!!!!!

Awesome, and thank you VERY much for propping the stage in the Videos, very cool of you.

It's a labor of Love for us, and we're trying to get it back out there this year again, we just are looking for some help so the load doesn't fall on my head the entire time.

Right now, all of us are in different head spaces about things. I've got a lot of things coming up for me this year, which is a big reason why we're looking for some help. But there's a lot of time until the burn, so anything can happen. The Big year will be 2011, when we have another couple in our group getting married ;) But we will be out there this year, only remains to see how big we go. I we can get some people involved, then there's every chance we can bring the thunder yet again :)

Chinito

P.S. Married life has been damn GOOD!!!!

Chino,

I don't know how you do it... Transmorphagon was HUGE last year. How many people camped with you in '09?

Talk about logistics 8)

Believe it or not, 31, with the core group being about 15. We want to stay around that number, but get a few people who are willing to give up a day or two of the Burn to facilitate the stage running from 12p-2a every day.

Logistically, it was a challenge, but it always is. We know how to do it now, so there's not much to "Figure out". If we decide to go for it, then this year we will scale back a bit - what we've discussed so far is to Build the stage, but not create the "Wings" we had last year, which would save us a significant amount of Money & Time. It's so early though, so things can & will change by The Burn.

This will be my first time (gasp!).

I'd love to learn about soundboards. Any chance you'd be willing to take a middle-aged woman under your wing?

We do mobile rave type events locally - have sound, lighting and laser experience, set up, tear down, djs that perform electronic music. This is our third year at BM but this time we were looking to be involved and looking for a camp to call home - we would be willing to help out with talent, lighting, sound, etc.

Chinito,

I know you have been talking with Shipwreck about camp this year. I have built a camp on the Esplanade before. The GravyBrain crew is amazingly organized and accountable. I think it would hard work and fun all rolled in playadust!

Eric, how long did it take to get the playa out of you sax?

Not trying to burglarize our conversation but i had to laugh when you asked how long it took him to get the playa out of his sax...after numerous washes and 5 months you can still smell and see remnants of playa in the truck and trailer! LOL! and yet we all still go back for more!

schimmer,

My truck has been to 9 burns. Every time I turn on the AC I am instantly transported back to the playa. I love it. I know it isn't good for the truck, I was it thoroughly each time I come home. But I love finding playa in things. Frack, we live in it out there, what is a little dust at home that brings back a wonderful memory? :)

Hey All-

Well the conversation between myself and Transmorphagon peeps have basically come down to "We're taking a year off"... That being said, I haven't thrown in the towel, although there have been some interesting things coming. I will be in touch will everyone who posted in this thread over the next week or so, and we'll see how it plays out.

An Update for Those interested...

the Application for The Transmoprhagon Theme Camp went in last night. We have teamed up with an amazing group of people who are bringing the Post Apocalytic Chill & Art space PANDORA into camp. We still need some help with Setup & Tear down, and Helping out on the stage in general. So If you would like to join a fun camp, please get in touch!!!
