if you need advice, chime in here. There are people here, I'm sure, who can help regarding keeping pipes from freezing and such.
No use randomly listing what you can do, but, if you have specifics, ask away.........
Notes?

It's too late to get under the house for me.
No pipe insulation.
I'm keeping as many faucets running as I can and hoping for the best.
Can't use antifreeze in this case.

This heavy fleece has really been a lifesaver.
I've been living in it and sleeping in it.
Down gets bulky to sleep in.

We have an extra day of single digits now.
I'm glad I'm not sleeping in a car in this stuff.
I had to do that a few winters ago.
No comparison to this weather.

Any ideas other than keeping the water running?

Looks like that's a job for next spring - pipe insulation.

In the meantime, I have taken the shade off a lamp and put it beside where the water pipe enters the house. The heat from a 60W bulb can keep the pipe from freezing.

This is cheaper to run than to keep the water running - at least it is here where they charge us for water in and water out by volume. Advantage is that you can get to sleep without having to listen to the water run.

Good luck with that, gyre.

Warm virtual hugs to you.

Sorry I wasn't here this morning for Lonestoner's set up. WOW.

If you've got any more of that Grand Marnier, pinemom, I'll take a drink.

I used to be an apartment superintendent - what a job!

Even though my house is worth half of what I paid for it, it's weather and posts like these that make me glad I live in Southern California. That is until a giant earthquake swallows us all up in it.

Keep warm my friends.

Morning, all. Foggy and cool here, but not bitter cold like so many of you are experiencing. Will have my regular tennis game this morning and then throw some pots this afternoon. But Whoa, before all that, I'll wander in for a cuppa Joe.

Saw all that Booby Bar planning and gotta be there, PM!!! Won't be long now when we'll all be spraying ourselves down to stay cool on the Playa

Went to an event at the Exploratorium Thursday night where the Cubatron was set up and brilliantly displayed. Got to lie under it (with no Playa dust) and it was great.

Hoping your pipes don't freeze, Gyre. Sounds lie Deb may hae a solution for you.

Was going to go snowshoeing this morning. Opened the door and couldn't see the mountains. Closed door and headed to the coffee pot instead. BTW - good morning.

Hey Piine Mom, the Cubatron was only there for one night. I would love to go back an see it again. There was a huge young crowd there in addition to Burners, a few of whom I knew from the ARTery. The Exploratoruim is a really fun place with hundreds of do it yourself "experiments" that demonstrate various scientific principles. My daughters who are now in their late 40's and early 50s worked there as "Expalainers" when they were in their teens. Great place to take kids.

Mark Lotto, the artist, inventor, designer, and all around interesting guy who is responsible for the Cubatron was there talking about the physics of light in a most entertaining way.

We did not get word of this event until Tuesday or Wednesday so it was a spur of the moment event. Too bad it was not publicized better so you all could have seen it. It was truly great!
